Ozzy Osbourne appeared on CNN International's "Connect the World" program on Wednesday, January 27 as "Connector of the Day".

Hosted by CNN anchor Max Foster, "Connector of the Day" is an interactive segment of the program which encourages viewers to submit questions online, which are then asked by Max on air.

Watch the "Connector of the Day" segment featuring Ozzy below.

Ozzy Osbourne says his upcoming new album, the 10th solo studio effort of his career, will not be called "Soul Sucka" as first reported. The Prince of Darkness told RollingStone.com, "When we put that on the Internet none of my fan base liked the title. They were like, 'I can't imagine me walking around the fucking house with the words 'Soul Sucka' on my T-shirt.' So I was like, 'Fuck it. I've got to come up with something else!'" No matter what it's called, Ozzy told The Pulse of Radio what to expect. "It's very heavy. It's a cross between — it's kind of like a SABBATH/Ozzy album, you know. It's kind of, it wasn't meant to, I didn't plan on doing it but that's the way it unfolded. A lot of it's very, very heavy. I just hope people like it. I love it."

The new set is due out in July, with a fresh title yet to be announced. Ozzy's last solo project, "Black Rain", came out in 2007.

Ozzy also confirmed that Ozzfest will return this summer after taking a one-year break but did not reveal whether it would be a one-shot affair like the 2008 edition or go back to its roots as a traveling event. He also plans to head out on his own headlining arena tour next fall.

The new album and tour will introduce guitarist Gus G. Ozzy parted ways last year with axeman Zakk Wylde, who has played on every Ozzy album and almost every tour since 1988.

Ozzy's first memoir, "I Am Ozzy", arrived in bookstores this week.

Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE ) paid tribute to to the late, great Les Paul this past Monday night (January 25) at the Iridium jazz club in New York City.

Wylde's setlist was as follows:

Video footage of Zakk's performance can be viewed below.

Les Paul, the innovator and inventor who passed away at 94 years of age in August 2009, was known throughout the world as the man who created multi-track recording and the father of the electric guitar. Many musicians pay homage to Les Paul and credit their careers and musicianship directly to him.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist Zakk Wylde's (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE) will be the featured guest on this Monday's edition of Headbangers Ball, which now airs every Monday night (technically Tuesday morning) at 3 AM (EST/PST) on MTV2.

This episode includes short interview segments conducted by Talking Metal's John Ostronomy and Mark Strigl, as well as numerous music videos spanning Zakk's legendary career.

As previously reported, PiercingMetal.com has posted an extensive review and pictures from Zakk's January 25th New York City performance in tribute to guitar innovator/inventor Les Paul. Go to this location and here for the complete experience.

Classic Rock can confirm that Paul Rodgers was invited to be Aerosmith's new frontman.
This happened at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour in London last November, when Aerosmith's troubles with singer Steven Tyler were just beginning to surface.
The awards were a star-studded affair. Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Rodgers were among the multitude of high-profile rockers in attendance.
During a break in the ceremony Perry approached Scott Rowley, Classic Rock's Editor In Chief, and asked him: "Can you introduce me to Paul Rodgers?"
Amazingly, Perry had never met the Free/Bad Company/The Firm/Queen + Paul Rodgers frontman before.
Rowley guided Perry to Rodgers' table and the two stars engaged in conversation while Rowley chatted to Rodgers' wife, Cynthia.
However, Classic Rock's Jerry Ewing, who was sitting at the table, overheard Perry make a direct approach to Rodgers about replacing Tyler in Aerosmith.
Ewing recalls:
"Basically Scott came over with Joe Perry who had asked to be introduced to Paul. After an initial introduction Perry started saying how Rodgers was his second-favourite vocalist of all time.
"Rodgers typically asked who Perry's favourite was, and Perry said: 'The lead singer of Aerosmith.' Cue some embarrassed laughter.
"The talk then moved on to what Perry was doing and he said that he was doing the Joe Perry Project and they were looking to come over here and tour, at which point Rodgers mooted the idea of them supporting Bad Company on their just-announced shows.
"The next thing, Perry is starting to tell Rodgers that they have problems with Tyler and that they intend to carry on regardless – and how great it would be if Rodgers took the slot, and would he be interested in trying out?
"If I remember correctly there were the usual 'how flattering' platitudes but no real commitment, as you'd expect, nor refusal."
Classic Rock knows of two more major names who have been approached to sing for Aerosmith.
We'll be revealing another of those names on www.classicrockmagazine.com tomorrow (Thursday, January 28), with the final one to follow on Friday. So stay tuned to the Classic Rock website.
The March issue of Classic Rock, which goes on sale next Wednesday, February 3, features Joe Perry on the cover and contains more exclusive Aero-revelations.
Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal of Full Metal Rock recently conducted an interview with SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Full Metal Rock: What made you decide that this is going to be the farewell?

Rudolf: We were mixing the album and we realized how good the album is. It is like an anthem of the whole of the best songs of the '80s. After working so much on the album, you know, we didn't realize. But you do when you have the whole picture in front of you. I said to the guys, "Hey, I can see how excited you are with this amazing album and I think that this could be a fantastic thing for you guys. If you know what I'm talking about, it could be a good last album and a last tour." So in the first place they said, "Hey, are you kidding or what?" I said, "No, think about it." Then we started talking and then we noticed that really it is in an outstanding kind of way how this album sounds like. We had some producers where the chemistry worked out so amazing. Two guys from Sweden, one is a very good guitar player and the other one is a very good technician on the boards, and somehow the chemistry was working in my studio and also in Stockholm. We recorded
the parts of the backing vocals, guitars and bass here in my studio and other parts like main vocals and drums we did in Stockholm, working together with these guys and really they somehow got this special guitar work out of us, which is really really kicking ass. So this is right essence of the SCORPIONS to really go on tour again with amazing '80s kind of rock show, the kind of big show we are known for from the '80s. To do that and release the album, that would be fantastic and make it a really big world tour. So more and more we thought about it, the more we came to the point that, yes, this is the right situation because SCORPIONS being on stage we make our name as a great live band because of the very powerful act on stage. When that acting gets less and less, it means that the "sting" is not there anymore. And SCORPIONS is nothing without the "sting." In this case, we know now that we are fit enough to really present a 100 percent SCORPIONS show
with a 120% SCORPIONS album, which would make it a successful tour, especially for a band from Germany where people thought that rock music never can come out of Germany. So we are now aware of that and we will give everything to make this last tour around the world a big rock and roll party.

Full Metal Rock: Your upcoming album was supposed to be "Humanity Hour II", but it's not. What happened to that?

Rudolf: The truth came after "Humanity Hour I". We talked about the fact that we had to be careful with the "Humanity Hour I" album. Our fears and everything came true, and because of financial crisis and everything, even a band like LINKIN PARK was talking about the same thing. So in this case, we didn't have anything, any reason to discuss about another concept album. So we said you know, why talking again and again [about it]? Now is the time to say, "Hey, guys, now we are in deep shit, let's rock, let's get positive energy and let's get out of this shit and make our world positive again." And that's what we did with "Sting In The Tail".

Full Metal Rock: You recorded this one in Germany as compared to the previous album that you did in the U.S. How much of a difference you think that has made?

Rudolf: It [recording in the U.S.] was fantastic! I tell you what, we really enjoyed being in Los Angeles and America is still our dream country. It's pure rock and roll and it was really fun. They gave us personal trainers to be fit, especially coming out of the production and to go on tour again. It was a great idea because after doing this program that time with the personal trainers, we are still doing it because it helps us really to be powerful on stage.

Full Metal Rock: Your farewell tour is supposed to last for two years. During this time, can we expect the SCORPIONS to play in as many cities around the world as possible, covering places you've never been to before?

Rudolf: Of course! We are ready to rock everywhere in the world. Because we did already, but you can talk about SCORPIONS even playing in the jungle in Amazon, playing in Mongolia, the pyramids in Egypt and there are so many places. The fun thing about it is, its so great to see people who may be never saw a rock and roll band, like when we played in the eastern part of the Europe in Russia. They never saw a rock band live before. We enjoyed very much to play in front of the Russian audience and also we like to play in front of American audience or South America. It's great to see the different mentalities and it's fantastic to see that rock music is really building bridges between generations, between continents and religions.

Billboard.com has issued the following report from Gary Graff:

Despite SCORPIONS' recent farewell announcement, guitarist Rudolf Schenker says the German hard rockers "will never be done."

"This history of the band is so amazing. We have so much film in our library and other things which will keep coming out," Schenker, who founded Scorpions in 1965 and shepherded the band to worldwide sales of more than 100 million albums, tells Billboard.com. He says the group's treasure trove includes footage from early concerts in Germany and Japan, from the 1983 US Festival, from the Scorps' commercial zenith in 1988 and from the band's 2002 tour of Russia.

First priority, of course, is putting out the final Scorpions studio album, Sting In The Tail, on March 23rd, then commencing a two-year, five-continent world tour on March 15th in Prague, with North American dates planned for June - September. The tour will also be filmed and recorded for potential future release.

"We will sit together after we take a vacation and make a list and then come out with different (releases)," Schenker says. "We'll make a plan and then come out year by year with some surprise kind of stuff."

Schenker says the prospect of ending Scorpions is indeed "really sad, and I don't even want to think about it." But explains that band and management ultimately feel it's the right move to end the band on a high note with Sting In The Tail - which he says "brings us back full circle to the sound we had in the 80s" - rather than risk a slow decline.

"Motörhead: in the Studio", written by biographer Jake Brown with with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, has been nominated for the 2010 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards in the specific category of Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research. According to Dr. Roberta Freund Schwartz, Chair of the ARSC Awards Committee, "These awards are presented each year by ARSC to recognize excellence in published research on any subject related to recorded sound."

Released in November in the United Kingdom, "Motörhead: In The Studio" is due to hit retail Stateside in April 2010. The book is described in a press release as "the first comprehensive study of the in-studio making of MOTÖRHEAD's legendary catalog — including such classics as 'Overkill', 'Bomber', 'Ace of Spades', 'Orgasmatron', 'March or Die' and 'Motörizer', among others — told via first-hand interviews with engineers and legendary producers as Tony Platt, Trevor Hallesy, Will Reid, Thom Panunzio, John Burns, Howard Benson, Ryan Dorn, Mark Dearnley, Chuck Reed, Peter Solley, Arabella Rodriguez, Cameron Webb, and former drummer Pete Gill." The book's cover was conceived by Kilmister and features the band's classic warpig logo sporting sunglasses and headphones.

Ex-IRON MAIDEN vocalist Blaze Bayley is featured in a new interview with Greece-based RockPages.gr. An excerpt is available below.

Rockpages.gr: Just when I thought that Blood And Belief" was the most introspective album of your career, you released The Man Who Would Not Die that it may have sounded optimistic but from a lyrical point of view it dealt with some very personal issues…

Blaze Bayley: The Man Who Would Not Die came after a break…I had released Blood and Belief which was a very important and honest record. I was suffering a lot from depression at the time and actually The Man Who Would Not Die was about my revenge and not being a victim of the circumstances. I had big problems with SPV; they lied to me, cheated me…they still owe me money. So, I said that if I would do another album, I'd release it through my own label. I've always believed in the fans. If the fans know about your music, if you play from your heart, they will support you. But, as it happens most of the times, the business side gets in the way. You sign a deal with a label and at the end of the day you have 50 people putting money in their pockets from your work and the fans' support and the last person that gets paid is actually you! It should always be about the artist and the fans and not some guys with suits that don't even care about you.
So, I decided to do my own label and a lot of the songs in The Man Who Would Not Die follow a theme…the revenge, the refusal to give up, because right before the album I was completely on my own, I had no band together, I had nothing happening for me at all…so, The Man Who Would Not Die is about me saying to the label that I am not gonna die and I will always play music to my fans. That's all that really matters."

"The last couple of years, I've been really lucky because I travel throughout the world, playing my own music and having a great time with the band and the fans. The whole idea right from the beginning was that we won't make any big stage plans but we will try to stick on the road and play for as many fans as possible to every single corner in the world. It's about the music and the show and we honestly try to give 100% to every show of the Blaze Bayley Band."

Bayley's new studio album, Promise And Terror, will be released via Blaze Bayley Recordings on February 1st and distributed by Plastic Head.

Ashland, Kentucky-based rockers HYDROGYN have announced the addition of former MEGADETH guitarist Jeff Young, KHZ drummer Joe Migz and bassist Jake Wolf to the group's ranks.

Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson, and Jim Florentine are back and ready to rock into the fourth season of VH1 Classic's hit original series "That Metal Show" on Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 p.m.

"That Metal Show" is the home for all things hard rock and heavy metal. It's the show that serious metal connoisseurs look to for the latest rock and metal news and where devoted fans come to discuss and outright debate the best bands in the business. Rolling Stone magazine recognized the show in its "50 Reasons to Watch TV Right Now" and with past guests like RUSH, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, AC/DC , Alice Cooper , Lars Ulrich, Lita Ford, Ace Frehley of KISS, and Alice Cooper, it's no wonder.

Each week hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson discuss the latest rock news, share stories and argue about their favorite bands. Joined by special guests who weigh in with their opinions and offer their own unique viewpoints, the show caters to some of the most opinionated heavy metal and hard rock fans across the country.

This season's scheduled guests include Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH), Joey Kramer (AEROSMITH), ACCEPT, WINGER, Joe Satriani, Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Pearl Aday and more. "That Metal Show" is also proudly bringing back studio segments including, "Whatever Happened To," and the weekly battle to settle all metal battles and end all debates, once and for all, "The Throwdown."

Fans can catch all of season one and season two online at VH1Classic.com. New episodes will launch online every Monday morning following the show's on-air premiere.

"That Metal Show" is a production of VH1 Classic. Adam Heydt serves as director, with Lee Rolontz and Keshia Williams as executive producers for VH1 and Jeff Baumgardner producer for the series.

"This is something that has been coming on for a while now," HYDROGYN guitarist Jeff Westlake explains. "Julie [Westlake, HYDROGYN singer] and I have known Jeff Young through our mutual connection with producer Michael Wagener (METALLICA, MEGADETH, OZZY OSBOURNE, ALICE COOPER). Finally everything is just falling in place and it's spurring everyone's creativity to new heights... We can't wait for people to hear what we're about to throw down!"

Young, who played on MEGADETH's classic "So Far, So Good... So What!" LP and just released his solo CD, "Equilibrium", states that "The first time Michael Wagener played HYDROGYN for me, I was knocked out! Julie and Jeff have all the things people want but rarely find in music today... Julie's voice and presence are 'peerless' in rock and when listeners hear where Jeff and I are taking the twin guitar team concept, I feel they're really gonna dig it."

The band is currently in the midst of writing and recording tracks, has a live DVD in the offing and a simple mission: "To rock every town on planet earth."

Classic Rock reports:

Geoff Workman, who collaborated as a producer and engineer with some of the greatest names in rock, has died.

Not much is known about the circumstances of Workman's demise.

However, session guitarist Michael Riesenbeck posted the following on Facebook: "Guys, we lost Geoff Thursday morning. He was at home, in his bed and it was peaceful. We will be making funeral arrangements early this coming week. It has been rough. Please pass this on to anyone who knew him or loved him."

Workman's career stretched back to 1970, when he was the tape op on the KING CRIMSON album Lizard.

Subsequently, he worked with QUEEN, JOURNEY, FOREIGNER, MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE CARS, TWISTED SISTER and TOTO.

Workman engineered the Crüe's Shout At The Devil album. That's his voice you can hear on the intro track, 'In The Beginning'.

KAMELOT's official web site recently conducted an interview with frontman Roy Khan and guitarist Thomas Youngblood. The question-and-answer session follows below.

Kamelot.com: So we're getting very excited about the upcoming tour and new album. Can you tell us something about the new CD and maybe some of the song titles?

Thomas: It's going great, and we feel we are continuing to grow musically and also explore new sounds for the band.

Khan: Yes, the topics on this album are diverse and we are curious to see the interpretation of the fans for these songs. Some of the titles include "The Great Pandemonium", "Hunter's Season" and "Thespian Drama", to name a few.

Thomas: Also we are going with Seth Siro Anton for the cover art. We have seen some of the first ideas and they look fantastic. Release is hopeful for late spring early summer.

Kamelot.com: Most of us know that you were on SPV Records with "Ghost Opera" and they have since claimed insolvency. How did that affect KAMELOT and the new album?

Thomas: Our deal with SPV was finalized before they claimed insolvency, there are still some small legal matters to finalize but it hasn't changed the process of this album. We have been very slow in choosing a new partner for the next album and there have been quite some offers from all of the relevant labels in the genre. We hope to have the final agreements in place very soon.

Kamelot.com: So let's discuss the touring coming up. First you will tour European this spring. What can we expect?

Khan: This tour will be the start of the most intense and widespread touring ever. Of course we plan to take the show another notch up in performance, lighting and sound. The new tour will obviously feature songs from the new album and will be themed around the new release. In addition we will play some songs that we have not played in a while and also one or two we have never played.

Thomas: Also we are planning to have a person on the entire tour filming behind the scenes, talking to fans, shots from the stage... everything; well, almost everything we do on tour. This footage will eventually be on our next DVD. So smile if you see our man Pako with a camera in your face!

Kamelot.com: I noticed you have two shows in Oslo. Will they be different from each other?

Khan: Each night will have unique opening acts and the KAMELOT stage set will be different in look and design. The set we play for each night will be altered as well, something we also plan for the shows in Tilburg and Amsterdam.

Kamelot.com: You recently posted that you will have a new singer on the tour, Elize Ryd. Can you tell us more about Elize?

Thomas: I first heard about Elize after checking out our friend Jake E's band AMARANTHE. We liked the band and also liked Elize's voice. We were casually looking for a new singer for the next tour and we thought she would be perfect.

Roy: Yea, AMARANTHE will open for us in Sweden, Finland and Norway. So fans of Elize will get to see her quite a bit on this tour.

Kamelot.com: Great news for North America, you announced a tour there for fall of 2010!

Roy: Yes, we will return to North America and hit some new cities as well as longtime favorites.

Thomas: I am excited about the tour! Playing the Nokia in New York will be a blast! Also returning to Canada, I love Montreal. I also have some longtime friends living in Toronto and have been there many times when not touring.

Kamelot.com: Also your first concert in Orlando. We have gotten emails from all over the Southeast about this show. I guess Orlando is also a huge vacation area, so fans are combining the show with holidays. We have even gotten emails from Puerto Rico and other Caribbean countries as well about the Orlando show.

Thomas: Yeah, that's awesome. It will be a blast and we look forward to that entire tour!

Jane's Addiction fansite xiola.org reports that original Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is the mysterious new writing partner and bassist for Jane's Addiction. As we reported earlier this month, Original Jane's bassist Eric Avery is officially out, once again, due to… the usual.

As the LA Weekly blog very correctly asserts, McKagan is the "one with his shit together." We've been fans of Duff's for a long time now, and consider this a perfect time to remind you that we did a great interview with the man back in May.

He's a very talented bassist and underrated songwriter, and overall we're pretty excited about this completely unexpected news strong rumor.

ARTISTdirect.com editor Rick Florino recently conducted an interview with vocalist Randy Blythe of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD about his role in the horror/thriller "The Graves", which was written and directed by former comic book writer Brian Pulido. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

ARTISTdirect.com: Do you feel like you tap into a similar rhythm on stage and on set?

Blythe: Absolutely! It was definitely a learning experience for me. I'm not going to say by any stretch of the imagination that I'll be up for an Academy Award for my acting [Laughs]. It was a big learning experience, but I definitely got to go to a darker mental place when I was filming the scenes. It required me to think, "Okay, now I'm this totally evil guy. Whatever comes out of me comes out of me, with no regard for anybody else's feelings or safety whatsoever." It's like the lid that society puts on you just gets taken off completely. You're like, "Okay, I'm going to do whatever I want. She needs her throat slit; kill her."

ARTISTdirect.com: Was it really a trip to watch the performance?

Blythe: I've only watched it a couple of times. It's the same thing with our music. Some guys when they get done recording a record, they listen to it relentlessly. I don't. I listen to it once or twice because if I keep on listening to it or, in this case, watching the scene over and over again, I'm going to start criticizing myself really heavily. I'd say, "I could've done this better, that sounds horrible or I look stupid there." Once something is down on wax, there's nothing more that you can do about it, except live with it. I tend to get really critical of myself when I review any sort of material that I've worked on. It was cool to watch for sure though — a couple times. I wouldn't watch it every day or anything [Laughs].

ARTISTdirect.com: Did you have a favorite scene other than the throat-slashing?

Blythe: Yeah, there's a scene in which we're in this abandoned power station that's set up as his church. The two female leads in the movie are tied up, and they're sitting on this low concrete stump. I'm facing them. I was looking at them and intimidating them just for the fun of it. I was looking at one of them and I was thinking about this story that my friend Sammy from GOATWHORE told me. He used to be in a band called ACID BATH, and they had a piece of art by John Wayne Gacy as their album cover for "When the Kite String Pops". ACID BATH was on tour, and they went to visit Gacy in jail. Sammy told me that when he was there it was just really fucked up. He felt that Gacy was looking into him — like looking at him like he was a piece of meat, as if he wanted to eat him. It made Sammy intensely uncomfortable. Even though Gacy was restrained, Sammy met him and he was like, "Wow, this is the real deal. This is a guy who murders people because that's
what he has to do — what his inner being compels him to do. If he wasn't over there in chains, he'd probably be eating me right now." During that scene with those two girls, I was thinking about that. I started looking at the girl up and down, like she was a piece of meat. We had to cut. We kept on filming things a million times, and she was like, "You're really creeping me out!" I said, "Good!" [Laughs] I thought the other girl was going to be freaked out and she was like, "Why won't you look at me that way because you're eliciting some sort of fucked up emotional response?" So I did. It was just really fun. In my head, I was thinking horrible, horrible thoughts, making it real. That's kind of neat because you don't get to do that often [Laughs]. Maybe I'm having Freudian slips here or something [Laughs]. You're like, "There's this beautiful woman and I could eat her liver with fava beans and a nice chianti." [Laughs] That was one of my favorite
scenes.

ARTISTdirect.com: Would you ever think about writing a book?

Blythe: I'm working on it right now. First of all, I'm working on a graphic novel script. I wrote the introduction awhile back for the second trade volume of a series called DMZ for Vertigo. This guy Brian Wood writes it. I'm a fan of his. Somehow he found out that I liked the series, and his editor approached me about writing the introduction to the second collection. I did, and the editor was like, "That's really good. Have you thought about writing anything yourself?" That put it in my mind to do so. I've been outlining that and world-building right now. I'm outlining a novel right now too. I'm trying to script this graphic novel and outline a regular prose novel at the same time. It might be a little too much. I need to take things off my plate a little bit and do one thing at a time [Laughs]. I do a lot of things at once, but it's what I'd like to do eventually for a living when I'm not doing the LAMB OF GOD thing. I really don't think I'm going to
be Mick Jagger, 60-something years-old up there screaming, "Who gives a fuck?!" [Laughs] I don't think my body will take it. Hopefully by that time, I'll settle down into a nice little book life of sorts.
