[HeavyMetalHeaven] The Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Saxon, tons of festival news and tons more hard rock and heavy metal news

They took so many drugs in the 60s and 70s it's perhaps not surprising they mislaid some of their recordings.

Nearly 40 years after making their legendary album Exile on Main St., the Rolling Stones have found four tracks originally planned for the record.

The songs - which have never been aired and were unknown to Stones aficionados - were discovered after Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards listened again to the original master copies of the sessions for the 1972 rock and roll classic.

The newly-discovered tracks are called Plundered My Soul, Dancing In The Light, Following The River and Pass The Win.

An insider who has heard two of the tracks said: 'Plunder My Soul is a classic authentic blues riff with an unmistakable Keith lick and abstract lyrics from Mick, while Following The River is a classic ballad in the tradition of Wild Horses.'

Jagger and Richards found the songs when they were asked by their record company, Universal Music Group, to listen to the tapes again because of plans to reissue the record.

Initially, the two stars believed they had used all the songs on the album. But when they went back into the basement of the band's offices in London, they discovered the four songs.

Sir Mick, 66, revealed: 'I went back in the archives and dug out a load of things. I added some percussion and some vocals. Keith put guitar on one or two.'

Richards, 66, added: 'I really wanted to leave them pretty much as they were. I didn't want to interfere with the Bible, you know.

'They still had that great basement sound.'

The band recorded some of the songs in an improvised studio beneath Nellcote, Richards' chateau on the French Riviera, as well as in Los Angeles and London-The length of the recording period - from 1968 to 1972 - and the various locations is also believed to be one of the reasons why the tracks disappeared.

Ironically, on its release, the album initially received a lukewarm response from critics, but it still went to number one on both sides of the Atlantic. It is now regarded as a masterpiece.

The Stones are to re-release the album with ten bonus tracks - of which four are the newly discovered songs.

It will come out on May 17 and will coincide with a documentary, Stones In Exile, which has used archive footage to chronicle the making of the record.

According to the New York Post, a Manhattan federal judge ruled yesterday (Thursday, February 25) that Ozzy Osbourne can proceed with his lawsuit against guitarist Tony Iommi over use of the BLACK SABBATH name.

Ozzy filed a lawsuit against Iommi in May 2009, claiming that Iommi illegally took sole ownership of the band's name in a filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Osbourne is suing Iommi for a 50 percent interest in the "Black Sabbath" trademark, along with a portion of Iommi's profits from use of the name.

The Manhattan federal court suit also charges that Osbourne's "signature lead vocals" are largely responsible for the band's "extraordinary success," noting that its popularity plummeted during his absence from 1980 through 1996.

Lawyer Andrew DeVore argued yesterday that Osbourne signed away all his rights to the BLACK SABBATH trademark after he quit the band in 1979.

Osbourne's lawyer, Howard Shire, called that agreement a "red herring" that was "repudiated" when the singer rejoined in 1997 and took over "quality control" of the band's merchandise, tours and recordings.

In a statement released on May 29, 2009, Ozzy said about his decision to sue Iommi, "It is with great regret that I had to resort to legal action against my long-term partner Tony Iommi, but after three years of trying to resolve this issue amicably, I feel I have no other recourse.

"As of the mid-1990s, after constant and numerous changes in band members, the brand of 'BLACK SABBATH' was literally in the toilet and Tony Iommi (touring under the name BLACK SABBATH) was reduced to performing in clubs. Since 1997, when Geezer [Butler, bass], Bill [Ward, drums] and myself rejoined the band, BLACK SABBATH has returned to its former glory as we headlined sold-out arenas and amphitheatres playing to upwards of 50,000 people at each show around the world. We worked collectively to restore credibility and bring dignity back to the name 'BLACK SABBATH,' which led to the band being inducted into the U.K. and U.S. Rock And Roll Hall of Fames in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

"Throughout the last 12 years, it was my management representatives who oversaw the marketing and quality control of the 'BLACK SABBATH' brand through Ozzfest, touring, merchandising and album reissues. The name 'BLACK SABBATH' now has a worldwide prestige and merchandising value that it would not have had by continuing on the road it was on prior to the 1997 reunion tour.

"Tony, I am so sorry it's had to get to this point by me having to take this action against you. I don't have the right to speak for Geezer and Bill, but I feel that morally and ethically the trademark should be owned by the four of us equally. I hope that by me taking this first step that it will ultimately end up that way. We've all worked too hard and long in our careers to allow you to sell merchandise that features all our faces, old BLACK SABBATH album covers and band logos, and then you tell us that you own the copyright.

"We're all in our 60s now. The BLACK SABBATH legacy should live on long after we have all gone.

"Please do the right thing."

Osbourne added in a separate online post, "I am very saddened that I've had to take legal action against Tony. This is something that I've tried to avoid for years. I am not Geezer or Bill's voice. However, 'till the day I die I will not change my mind on this issue. The BLACK SABBATH trademark should be equally owned by Geezer, Bill, Tony and I as the true BLACK SABBATH lineup is Tony, Geezer, Bill and I. We've all been mates since school. I've always said there is an invisible thread that holds us together.

"Tony, let's get this ridiculous issue sorted and move on with our lives. You're 61, I'm 60. I hope that we've got a good 20 years left in us. But if not, God forbid something happens to you. What's going to happen to the BLACK SABBATH trademark? Who's going to oversee it? Don't you think after we're long gone the rights should stay in your family, my family, Bill's family and Geezer's family?"

Ozzy's suit follows one filed by Iommi in December 2008 against Live Nation. In that filing, Iommi claims the concert giant sold merchandise bearing the band's logo, despite the 2006 expiration of a merchandising deal, reportedly worth nearly $80 million. Soon after that agreement concluded, Iommi reclaimed the band's trademark.

Iommi's suit argues Live Nation continued to sell more than 100 items of merchandise featuring the band's likeness, name and logo, despite the receipt of cease-and-desist orders from the guitarist's camp. Iommi's suit seeks damages in the amount of three times the profits from the merchandise sales, plus a halt to the BLACK SABBATH product sales.

Iommi and SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler both said some less than kind things about working with Osbourne in a spring 2009 interview with Decibel magazine. The pair released a new studio album as HEAVEN & HELL, the post-Ozzy version of SABBATH featuring vocalist Ronnie James Dio, and Butler said that working with Dio was much easier than Osbourne. He explained, "Ronnie's a songwriter in his own right — he's got tons of ideas. Whereas Ozzy . . . in the old days, he'd come up with a vocal line and I'd write the lyrics. Ronnie is 100 percent involved in both the musical side and the vocal side, and he writes his own lyrics as well."

Butler added that Osbourne didn't take him seriously as a songwriter, saying, "If we were with Ozzy and I came in with the killer riff of all time, Ozzy wouldn't even think of doing it because I'm not the guitarist and that's the way he thinks . . . That's why it was so bloody hard to write anything."

Butler said about HEAVEN & HELL's debut CD, "The Devil You Know", "If we'd written this album with Ozzy, we'd still be working on the first track."

Iommi added that there was a sharp difference between the singers live as well, saying, "It was great being with Ozzy on the road . . . but with Ronnie it's a lot different, because we go out and we know exactly what we're gonna be doing. With Ozzy, we didn't really know. It was touch and go sometimes on some of those early shows, whether he was gonna turn up, if he'd be able to sing, if his voice was gone, or what. We'd have to cancel shows, which Geezer and myself really hated. But with Ronnie, we've never canceled a show."

A QUADRIPLEGIC AC/DC fan suffered serious facial injuries when a mate accidentally hit the joystick of his motorised wheelchair and catapulted him into the mosh pit during a concert at the Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre on Saturday night.

Witnesses said a metal pin used by the 31-year-old Morningside man to manoeuvre objects became a spear and imbedded in his eye as his chair crashed more than a metre to the centre's floor.

QSAC faces criticism for not placing a proper barrier in front of the special wheelchair podium that would have prevented the accident.

Photos obtained by The Courier-Mail show while the podium had side and rear barriers, the only front barrier was a strip of floor timber and plastic caution tape.

The incident happened about 10pm as more than 45,000 fans danced to the legendary Aussie rockers during the second of their two sold-out Brisbane shows.

The man's friend moved his left hand when it struck the joystick and the wheelchair shot forward and fell end over end.

"He was shattered, just devastated by what happened," a person said of the distraught mate.

Paramedics immediately attended the quadriplegic, a former truck driver who became paralysed after an accident.

A Princess Alexandra Hospital official said the man was out of intensive care yesterday but was still in a serious, but stable condition. He had no information on whether the man had lost an eye.

QSAC venue manager Patrick Oxley had no comment and referred questions to an official for Stadiums Queensland. It issued a statement saying it was aware of the incident and was investigating.

According to Guardian.co.uk, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson's Friday-night "Rock Show" may go off the air if digital radio station BBC 6 Music gets axed as part of BBC's overhaul of its digital services.

BBC's web output could be cut in half, with online staff numbers and budgets to be slashed by 25% following director general Mark Thompson's strategic review of the corporation's scope and activities.

Dickinson has been BBC 6 Music since the station's launch.

Bruce's Friday-night "Rock Show" features the IRON MAIDEN singer introducing the best metal and hard tunes to hit the airwaves, and providing a worthy successor to the "Tommy Vance Rock Show".

Bruce has interviewed the biggest names in the rock world today, including Lemmy from MOTÖRHEAD, all four members of METALLICA and former IRON MAIDEN singer Blaze Bayley.

According to Crain's New York Business, VELVET REVOLVER /ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan's autobiography was up for auction last week.

Based on the 40-page proposal that made the rounds of publishing houses, McKagan's book would begin on the day in 1994 when his pancreas burst from alcohol abuse. It would recount his rise through the music scene , his fall into drug abuse and his recovery, which included two years of celibacy and a degree in finance from Seattle University.

Bidding last week topped $250,000, according to an industry source cited by Crain's New York Business.

McKagan's wife, model and swimwear designer Susan Holmes, revealed via Twitter that Duff on Febraury 19 that Duff had just returned from New York City where "he met and was wooed [by] 13 of the best book publishers" regarding the U.S. release of his upcoming book.

In a May 2009 interview with TimesRecordNews, McKagan said that his book will be about his life's adventures and experiences.

"I just started writing," he said at the time. "We'll see how it goes, maybe up to 10,000 words and then I'll actually sit down and read it and see if it's going in the right direction. I like writing, and I don't take myself too seriously, so it should be interesting."

A sample of Duff's writing which may, or may not, end up in the forthcoming book can be found at SeattleWeekly.com.

Duff's VELVET REVOLVER/GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash has already published his own book, while ex-GUNS drummer Steven Adler will publish his life story, "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses", in June.

According to Haaretz, METALLICA will perform at Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel on May 22, the event's promoter confirmed Saturday.

This will be METALLICA's third visit to the country; they appeared at the Amphi Park in Rishon Letzion in 1999 and Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park six years earlier.

At the end of January, METALLICA was presented with a gold plaque signifying Brazilian sales in excess of 45,000 copies of the band's 2008 album, "Death Magnetic". The band also received a platinum award recognizing sales in Brazil of more than 60,000 copies of the group's "Orgullo, Pasión Y Gloria - Tres Noches En La Ciudad De México" (Pride, Passion And Glory Three Nights In Mexico City) DVD — which was recorded on June 4, 6 and 7 of last year at Foro Sol in Mexico City. The award presentation was held in the afternoon of January 30, just hours before the band's performance at the Morumbi stadium in São Paulo.

A policeman was injured and 120 people arrested when rioting broke out outside METALLICA's January 26, 2010 concert in Santiago, Chile, according to the Latin American Herald Tribune. Authorities said that most of the arrests were made when hundreds of fans who did not have tickets attempted to force their way into the Club Hipico horse-racing grounds to see the show, which was attended by a crowd of more than 50,000. Police colonel Miguel Angel Castro said, "A group of people tried to enter without tickets and Carabineros (militarized police) had to act, launching water."

Charges against those arrested included disorderly conduct, drug possession and drinking in public.

The gig was the sixth on METALLICA's South American trek, which began on January 19 with the band's first-ever appearance in Lima, Peru. The crowd of 55,000 at that show was the biggest for a musical event in Peruvian history.

The group wrapped the first leg of the jaunt at the end of January in Brazil, resuming in early March with stops in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Panama and Colombia.

BANG TANGO, BULLETBOYS and original W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes will perform at "Darryl Kunkle's Kick Cancer's Ass" benefit show on Tuesday, March 9 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Hard Rock Café at Station Square. The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a special spiritual tribute to local '80s metal fan Darryl Kunkle, who was diagnosed with a form of cancer called mesothelioma.

The "Darryl Kunkle's Kick Cancer's Ass" benefit concert is being produced by Lawless Entertainment and will be filmed by local TV show "GlamSLAM28 Presents…The Music Asylum" for future airing.

BANG TANGO's lineup for the performance will include original lead singer Joe Leste alongside Alex Grossi (QUIET RIOT, ADLER'S APPETITE) on guitar, Anthony Focx (BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) on guitar, Trent Anderson (DOGS DIVINE, D'MOLLS) on drums and Lance Eric (LUNCHBOX) on bass.

Holmes will play a special "W.A.S.P.-plus" set with members of BANG TANGO and guest lead singers.

Kunkle underwent a 14.5-hour surgery earlier this month to remove a giant tumor from his abdomen to the crust of his diaphragm. While in the I.C.U., Kunkle awoke to greet his wife, Dianne, with a "Hi, sweet pea" and later alerted the doctors that in no way shape or form would he be staying in the hospital any longer than needed because he "had a show that he was NOT going to miss." The doctors feel that they got 99% of the cancer out, but Kunkle will be undergoing additional chemotherapy.

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is believed to be attributed to exposure to asbestos.

Kunkle was enlisted in the Air Force stationed in Panama and was trained to work on brake linings that may have been lined with asbestos. He was also employed by the Nabisco company for six years in which the building he worked was closed for asbestos removal.

This show will benefit Kunkle's additional medical and prescription costs.

Get tickets at www.showclix.com or by contacting the Hard Rock Café by phone at 412-481-ROCK. Tickets are only $13 in advance and $15 at the door.

At Guitar Center in Robinson Township , guitarists Chris Holmes and Alex Grossi will make an in-store appearance from 5 to 6 p.m. BANG TANGO and Chris Holmes will take a private tour of Heinz Field, soaking in the Pittsburgh culture earlier in the day as well.

DOWN/ex-PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo has signed a contract with MetalSucks.net writer and acclaimed true crime author Corey Mitchell to help pen the singer's autobiography. An official press release on the matter is expected next week.

Anselmo was recently interviewed for the 200th issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, which coincided with the five-year anniversary of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) passing. When asked if he feels he's been portrayed fairly in the wake of PANTERA's break-up, Anselmo said, "If someone's formed an opinion about me, it's a vicarious opinion and they don't know me personally, so I always say that you can't form an opinion about somebody through the black-and-white words in glossy, overpriced magazines.

"I think that anyone who knows me or has spent time with me wil llet you know that they got my back. They know I'm a good man. I know I'm a good man and life can be cruel and life can be hard, but it shows character, so I think with that character, everything's been just OK."

Regarding how he has changed in the five years since Dimebag's tragic passing, Anselmo said, "I guess back surgery would be one of the big things.

"Once you have titanium in your body, especially the way I do, a triple fusion... I destroyed three discs, jumping all over the stage, into the crowd, off PA speakers, off Vinnie Paul's [PANTERA] drum set...

"I crushed my back for the cause, for the music. I bled every night for the music.

"I was very young. I didn't know what else to do.

"I definitely have an addictive personality but it's apparent that painkillers and drugs and whatnot are addictive. You take a look around at today's youth and you take a look... it's a plague, especially in America. It's a fucking plague. People of all ages, man, not just the youth. So I fell into that trap. Either way, I came out of that trap.

"Once you have hardware in your body, you have to respect every moment. Every morning I wake up, there's regimens. There is no time for me to get smashed drunk anymore. I can't afford hangovers. I can't afford my muscles to be dehydrated. I hurts. It only makes my day worse.

"I have to do a 30-minute stretch-out regimen every morning before I do anything. So there's a lot of discipline in my life.

"I've... I guess it's a common thing for people who have truly overcome in their minds, to reach out and help other people who are struggling.

"I gave a talk at a local college last year... or when I was rehabbing... it was earlier this year [2009], maybe March, something like that. Anyway, I did a talk at Loyola University to about 300 music majors [see first of seven video clips below]. They had had a classmate overdose and die and it had affected everybody in the class. I was asked to come and talk to these people and I did and it was a great experience.

"Other than that, I've reached out and I've helped several motherfuckers with battling addictions. I've fought tooth and nail for their lives...

"Put it this way, I guess I got about a 80/20 success ratio as far as that goes. Some people are just not ready. Some people need to learn for themselves. They need to hit rock bottom. As much as we all try to help... and I remember clearly, people telling me, 'Phil! Phil! There's something wrong,' and 'You've got to do this, you've got to do that,' and I was sitting there thinking I was the most important fucking person on Earth because my back was hurting and I'd be like, 'There's no fucking way I'm quitting drugs...' It's a very common thread among motherfuckers. Denial and anger and resentment at people fighting for your life, so I've been going through a lot of that lately, helping motherfuckers out.

"You know, my house is open to those people who really want to succeed. I've had people come out to my woods and get their heads on straight. And when you help someone else out, it only reinforces your strength. It really does. It really does."

Swiss hard rockers GOTTHARD have cancelled the remaining shows on their Norwegian tour because vocalist Steve Lee was taken ill. According to the Norwegian newspaper Haugesunds Avis, Lee was forced to leave the stage 35 minutes into GOTTHARD's February 25 performance in Bergen and was rushed to a medical center, where he was diagnosed with high fever and a damaged voice. He is not allowed to speak for ten days in order to insure full recovery.

Ticket refunds for the cancelled GOTTHARD shows are available at points of purchase.

GOTTHARD's latest album, "Need To Believe", was recently certified platinum in the band's home country for sales in excess of 30,000 copies.

The group was presented with the platinum-award plaques on January 9 at the "Swiss Awards 2009", which also included the TV premiere of GOTTHARD's new radio single, "Don't Let Me Down".

GOTTHARD's "Unconditional Faith" video can be viewed below. The clip was shot in Zagreb, Croatia last summer and it features performance footage filmed inside the boxing ring that was used in an upcoming movie in which boxing champion Henry Maske plays the title role of Max Schmeling.

"Need To Believe" was released on September 4, 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Touting eleven No. 1 albums and six Top 10 singles in their career, GOTTHARD has opened for such renowned artists as AC/DC , DEEP PURPLE, BRYAN ADAMS and BON JOVI throughout Europe. The band has also had the honor of performing at the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival, is two-time winner of its native country's Prix Walo Award, recipient of Monaco's International Music Award, and has had its music featured on the soundtrack to the European television series "Frankie".

According to a posting on KITTIE's official Twitter profile, the Canadian all-girl metal band just got confirmed for its first support tour in 10 years." The group states, "Finally a band with enough balls to take us on tour! Stay tuned for big tour news!"

In a recent interview with RockMusicStar.com, KITTIE guitarist/vocalist Morgan Lander stated about the band's touring plans, "We have some stuff that's coming down the pipe right now. But nothing is 100% confirmed, so I really can't give you any guarantee. But expect to see us out on a touring, festival kind of tour in July and August. And there's some other things as well, that hopefully will be happening in September. But with this industry, you don't really know if it's actually going to happen or not, until you are standing on the stage. It's crazy."

KITTIE's latest album, "In The Black", sold around 3,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 132 on The Billboard 200 chart.

KITTIE's previous CD, "Funeral for Yesterday", opened with 9,000 units back in February 2007 to land at No. 101.

"In The Black" was made available in Europe on October 23, 2009 via Germany's Massacre Records.

Regarding KITTIE's new video, "Sorrow I Know", Morgan Lander recently told AOL's Noisecreep, "We are a metal band, but as women, we wanted to do a role-playing, dress-up video. All of our videos have always been us in the live setting, with some storyline. We wanted more costume-y video, with a little more movie feel. . . We had the idea for the 1920s, with a speakeasy concept. We thought about it for quite some time and brought it to Dave Brodsky, who directed it, so the search began for some authentic-looking speakeasy. We found a place in New York called The Back Room, which is a 'members-only' place, and we got to rent it out for the day. They still serve all of their drinks in tea cups, prohibition style, and we did a casting call for the extras and our fans and kids from message board came out. People flew from Florida and all kinds of places to be in it. The makeup and hair took a long time, since the styles of the day were complicated."

Berlin, Germany's PitCam Production conducted an interview with KITTIE when the group played in Berlin on January 6, 2010. Watch the chat below.

After spending two "intense" months at Necromorbus Studio (NOMINON, AVERSE SEFIRA, FUNERAL MIST, NEX, ONDSKAPT, MORK GRYNING, ADORIOR) in Alvik, Sweden, Swedish black metallers WATAIN have finally completed work on their as-yet-untitled fourth album, to be released by Season Of Mist on June 7.

Commented WATAIN frontman Erik "E" Danielsson: "I am now holding in my hand the final master tape of what might be the most dynamic and charged WATAIN release ever recorded. May the gods unto which it is written be pleased!

"We are very much looking forward to share this rich feast with our followers, whom we know have been hungering for a very long time. All I can say is that it will be worth the wait.

"We raise our cups unto all of you whose patience and support have been constant during the three fiery years since the release of 'Sworn to the Dark' and look forward to set the night aflame with you again soon!"

After announcing their special BATHORY tribute set on June 12 as part of this year's Sweden Rock Festival, WATAIN were approached by Sweden Rock Magazine to record a BATHORY cover for a special CD. In collaboration with Sweden Rock Magazine and Season Of Mist, WATAIN has put together a special CD that all subscribers of the magazine will get with issue #70 (out April 6). The CD consists of a cover of BATHORY's "The Return of Darkness and Evil" as well as the brand new track "Reaping Death", from WATAIN's asupcoming CD.

"The cool thing about Sweden Rock Magazine is that it covers metal's traditions and history and what metalhead head isn't aware of the genre's history?" says WATAIN frontman Erik "E" Danielsson. "It felt like the right forum for a tribute to BATHORY, one of extreme metal's forefathers, especially the Scandinavian side of it. All the pieces fell into place."

WATAIN didn't go for the obvious. Instead the band decided to do a cover of the early version of BATHORY's "The Return of Darkness and Evil", found on the cult 1984 compilation album "Scandinavian Metal Attack".

"It was the first recording BATHORY ever did and to me it feels like that song, in that version, sums up BATHORY: a Satanic MOTÖRHEAD, a pitchblack G.B.H. It's rooted in what was heaviest at the time, but took it one step further," says E.

BATHORY founder Quorthon died on June 3, 2004 from heart failure. What would he think of WATAIN covering his early work?

"I hope and think that our love of BATHORY is very apparent and I think he would've been very proud," says E. "We've rarely agreed to do a tribute, except in the case of DISSECTION. Our version is a pure tribute. We're not trying to make it into a WATAIN song, we're just pointing a big fucking spotlight at BATHORY. Hail the hordes!"

For more information, visit www.swedenrockmagazine.com.

Last but not least, WATAIN will release a single entitled "Reaping Death". It will be made available as a picture seven-inch EP on Walpurgisnacht. This single will feature the track "Reaping Death" along with a special B-side.

U.K. extreme metallers ANAAL NATHRAKH have commenced work on material for a new album, tentatively due before the end of the year.

ANAAL NATHRAKH's latest LP, "In The Constellation Of The Black Widow", was released in June 2009 via Candlelight Records. A limited-edition gatefold colored vinyl version of the effort was made available at the same time via Feto Records (the label run by NAPALM DEATH's Shane Embury and ANAAL NATHRAKH's Mick Kenney).

Drummer Joakim Antonsson has left Swedish melodic death metallers THE COLD EXISTENCE in order to focus on his other band NOX AUREA. The remaining members of THE COLD EXISTENCE say in a statement, "There is no hard feelings between the band and Joakim for this and we wish him good luck with his other bands."

The band adds, "We are in the middle of the writings for our new album that will be released on Pulverised Records later this year and PTR Derenius from Swedish band MALEFICIO will contribute with his drumming on this album. Bassist Peter Laustsen played together with PTR several years before and can promise that his skills will give the band the little extra we are looking for."

THE COLD EXISTENCE's third album will be recorded at Andy La Rocque's (KING DIAMOND guitarist) Sonic Train studios in Varberg, Sweden with Peter Laustsen at the helm. According to the label, THE COLD EXISTENCE's new material is "very fast and brutal and will be the best album by this band yet."

THE COLD EXISTENCE's latest album, "Sombre Gates", was released in March 2009 through Kolony Records. According to a press release, "bearing the legacy of DISSECTION, [THE COLD EXISTENCE's] blackened/death metal non-compromising sound is also reminiscent of such seminal bands as BEHEMOTH, NILE, AT THE GATES and HYPOCRISY. Willing to tour steadily through Europe, the band now relies on the super heavy and ultra-fast sound of an Andy La Rocque-mastered (KING DIAMOND) release. Black/death metal at its finest!"

[HeavyMetalHeaven] Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, KIss, Dave Evans, Motorhead, Guns N Roses, The Kinks, Metallica, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Stone Sour, Hellyeah, Megadeth, The Cult, Stone Temple Pilots, Cinderella, Black Label Society, SIXX AM, The Misfits, Dokken and tons more hard rock and heavy metal news

HEAVEN & HELL â€" the band featuring BLACK SABBATH members Tony Iommi (guitar),
Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Geezer Butler (bass) and Vinny Appice (drums) â€"
will support British metal legends IRON MAIDEN on August 11 at Bergenhus
Festning-Koengen in Bergen, Norway.

HEAVEN & HELL singer Ronnie James Dio was recently diagnosed with the early
stages of stomach cancer while the band's guitarist, Tony Iommi, underwent
stem-cell treatment on an injured hand.

HEAVEN & HELL drummer Vinny Appice underwent surgery on his right shoulder on
November 30, 2009 for an injury sustained during the band's last tour.

The surgeon expects Vinny to be back behind the kit this spring.

HEAVEN & HELL's debut album, "The Devil You Know", entered The Billboard 200
chart at position No. 8 with first-week sales of 30,000 units.

The band's June 16, 2009 concert at Museumsmeile in Bonn, Germany was
professionally filmed by WDR's (German public TV) series "Rockpalast" and was
premiered on July 13. Watch the "Follow The Tears" performance below.

In a recent online posting, Ronnie James Dio's wife/manager Wendy Dio revealed
that there are plans to release a 30th-anniversary BLACK SABBATH "Heaven And
Hell" DVD sometime this year. The package is expected to include brand new
interviews that Ronnie, Geezer and Appice gave to Eddie Trunk â€" co-host of the
VH1 Classic television program "That Metal Show" â€" on January 22, 2010 in Los
Angeles, as well other extras.

According to concert promoter Live Nation, AEROSMITH will perform at Palau Sant Jordi in Bareclona, Spain on June 27.

In addition to their recently announced appearance at this June's Download Festival in the U.K., AEROSMITH has now revealed that it will also perform on June 10 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden and in early July at the Heineken Jammin' Festival in Venice, Italy.

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry had been the most vocal in his criticism of Steven Tyler after the singer injured himself in a fall from the stage last August, forcing the band to cancel the remaining dates on its summer tour.

Tyler subsequently announced his intention to take a two-year break from AEROSMITH and focus on a solo project, which in turn led Perry and the rest of the band to publicly discuss getting a new frontman.

Although Tyler entered rehab in December for an addiction to painkillers, plans continued for AEROSMITH to recruit a new temporary vocalist, with Perry reportedly approaching Paul Rodgers, Chris Cornell and Billy Idol.

Tyler's management and attorneys threatened legal action if the band went forward with that agenda. There was no public response from the group but the festival dates were confirmed shortly thereafter. It was reported that Download organizers would only offer the gig if Tyler were to appear.

AEROSMITH will embark on the "Cocked, Loaded And Ready To Rock Tour" this
summer.

The group's schedule is as follows:

Jun. 10 - Sweden - Sweden Rock Festival
Jun. 13 - UK - Download Festival
Jun. 15 - UK - London 02 Arena
Jun. 18 - Romania - Bucharest
Jun. 20 - Greece - Athens Olympic Stadium
Jun. 23 - Holland - Nijmegen Goeffert Park
Jun. 25 - Belgium - Graspop Metal Meeting
Jun. 27 - Spain - Barcelona St Jordi Arena
Jun. 29 - France - Paris Bercy Arena
Jul. 01 - Czech Republic - Prague 02 Arena
Jul. 03 - Italy - Venice Festival

The various AEROSMITH members offered the following comments about the trek in
an official press release:

Steven Tyler (vocals): "Back by popular demand with more spit and fire than ever
before, we're coming across the pond and parting the waters as we go."

Joe Perry (guitar): "AEROSMITH is going to be rocking in the UK and Europe this
summer. Enough BS, we're coming and everything is going to be set at 11."

Joey Kramer (drums): "AEROSMITH is back! Bigger, better and stronger than ever!
So look out Europe 'cos we're comin' to getcha."

Brad Whitford (guitar): "I'm not sure who is happier, the band or the fans.
Can't wait to get started. Will see you this summer."

A video message from the band announcing the tour can be viewed below.

Tyler injured himself in a fall from the stage on that tour last August, forcing
the band to cancel the remaining dates. Tyler subsequently announced his
intention to take a two-year break from AEROSMITH and focus on a solo project,
which in turn led the rest of the band to publicly discuss getting a new
frontman.

Tyler entered rehab in December for an addiction to painkillers, and his
management and attorneys threatened legal action if AEROSMITH went forward with
finding a new singer.

According to Classic Rock magazine, KISS will perform at the the 800-capacity O2 Academy Islington club in London, England on Tuesday, March 2. This will mark the band's "most intimate" performance in the U.K. since the opening of the Marquee Club in Charing Cross Road more than two decades back.

You must use the promo code "sonic."

As previously reported, KISS' new album, "Sonic Boom ", album will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl in five colors — purple, red, green, blue and black. The LP will be packaged in a full-color gatefold jacket and it iwll include lyrics on the inner sleeve and an exclusive 22" x 33" color poster.

Only 1,000 of each color will be pressed!!

Because of the limited quantities, KissOnline.com is now taking pre-orders and expect the albums to ship in 6-8 weeks.

"Sonic Boom" entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 2. This marked the band's highest-charting LP ever.

KISS has notched eight Top 10 albums, according to Billboard.com. Its previous highest-charting set was 1998's "Psycho Circus", which debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 110,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group's other high-charting sets include 1975's "Alive!" (No. 9), 1977's "Love Gun" (No. 4) and 1992's "Revenge" (No. 6).

Original AC/DC singer Dave Evans has scheduled the following U.K. dates:

May 20 - Trillians Rock Bar - Newcastle
May 21 - The Brickyard - Carlisle
May 22 - Revolver - Birkenhead
May 23 - Moho Live - Manchester

Dave Evans recently signed a deal with Rocksector Records for the U.K. release
of his latest solo album, "Judgement Day". Due on April 12, the CD was made
available in Australia in July 2008 through MGM. The follow-up to 2003's
"Sinner" was recorded in Brisbane, Australia with producer Mark Tinson and
features 10 tracks, including a cover of "House of the Rising Sun" (listen to
the audio below). The first single was "We Don't Dance to Your Song".

Evans was a member of AC/DC from the band's inception in 1973 until 1974.
Following his departure from AC/DC, Dave Evans formed the wild hedonistic rock
band RABBIT, Melbourne '80s rock outfit DAVE EVANS AND THUNDER DOWN UNDER, and
lastly DAVE EVANS AND HOT COCKEREL. Dave Evans has also toured as a solo act,
and in 2004 released his current album, "Sinner", on Germany's Cultural Minority
record label. In 2005, Dave Evans toured across Holland, Germany and Switzerland
with the renowned southern rock band MOLLY HATCHET.

According to Billboard.biz, MOTÖRHEAD has been confirmed for this year's Rock in Rio Madrid festival, which will take place over two six days — June 4-5, June 10-12 and June 14 — at Rock City, a 200,000-square-meter (50-acre) area in Arganda del Rel, 17 km (10 miles) from Madrid, Spain. The band will join METALLICA on the festival's final day, June 14.

Tickets went on sale on February 23 at the central Madrid El Corte Ingles department store, which is one of the festival sponsors. Many fans slept outside the store in the street before it opened at 10 a.m., and by 4 p.m. more than 32,000 tickets had been sold at €69 ($93).

Rock in Rio was founded in Rio de Janeiro in January 1985, and subsequent events in Lisbon and Madrid have been arranged by Brazilian founder Medina. This will be the second Rock in Rio Madrid. The first, in 2008, was attended by 290,000 fans.

According to Andina, GUNS N' ROSES will be accompanied by "the largest technical staff ever" — including sound, light, video and fireworks technicians — when it performs in Lima, Peru on March 25. In addition, the band has requested "a large number of officers" to provide security for the group for a 24-period while GUNS N' ROSES is in town for the concert. Frontman Axl Rose has also reportedly asked for "wines, beers, vodka, red and white roses, and a 'square melon.'"

As previously reported, Rose recently revealed in an online post that GUNS N' ROSES is now managed by Doc McGhee, who has handled the careers of BON JOVI , MÖTLEY CRÜE and KISS throughout the years. GN'R recently parted ways with powerhouse manager Irving Azoff, who helped to get the band's 2008 album, "Chinese Democracy", finally released after a 15-year wait.

THE KINKS leader Ray Davies has cited a possible collaboration with METALLICA for his upcoming collection of new versions of old songs, which will include duets with Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. "I might talk to [METALLICA] about doing a song," he told the Republican newspaper in November. "I listen to their music and I think we could do a quite interesting collaboration." He added, "I want it to be diverse and interesting, not the obvious things and hopefully stretch the artists and get them to do things that either that they wouldn't have thought of or in some case that I wouldn't have thought of. I'd like it to be truly collaborative."

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"Five more days and I will be standing in a hotel room getting ready to start my day again on the 2010 MEGADETH world tour.

"I know that I have said that there was not much gas left in the tank over the years, and I know I have a reputation for changing my mind, but we all do tha; it's just my choices are more public than most of y'all's.

"I can't tell you how rewarding it has been to make a new start with [returning MEGADETH bassist] David Ellefson, and I can't tell you all of the other people that I have come across that are happy for me, for us, for MEGADETH, and for heavy metal.

"This changing of my mind was not so much 'me' changing my mind, as it was the spiritual renewal of my mind, and having a new outlook on life for the past few years that has really never had a chance to be publicly displayed.

"This is not about me or my growth, it is about the powerful healing of forgiveness. I am really more grateful for David forgiving me for whatever I had done that harmed him or his family.

"I am very grateful for everything that has led up to us being reunited in the studio and soon to be on the stage. From Southern gentleman James MacDonough [ex-MEGADETH bassist], with his edgy bass playing, unstoppable energy, and his upbeat disposition to James Lomenzo [who was dismissed from MEGADETH earlier this month], who also had a unique style of holding down the bottom end, while teaching us all how to continue through the mundane touring life and maintaining class, dignity, and respect for everyone.

"I never encountered a single second where either of these guys were not the most kind and considerate of men, so it was hard when the times came to move on, and this all brings me back to where it all started; with my best friend of almost 30 years, David Ellefson, 'the bassist' of MEGADETH.

"While we were apart, these two fine men sat on the throne for the bassist in MEGADETH and served us all, band and fans alike, very well. I will always be eternally thankful to the two James.

"We start rehearsals up again today.

"All of the sound crew was in Vic's Garage [MEGADETH's recording/rehearsal studio in San Marcos, California] yesterday, and started setting up the PA for us to start vocal rehearsals. This should be interesting, because this is going to be the real telling on how long it will take me to learn how to sing and play this record at the same time.

"Let's face it, while everyone's gig is extremely challenging for this next ['Rust In Peace'] Anni Tour, I believe I am going to have the hardest job of us all, and I doubt I would feel as confident going into this if it wasn't for my band mates. I am sure that Chris [Broderick, guitar] has a huge workload too, but I am telling you, this guy is from another universe. See for yourself, or maybe not, because the shows are selling out and the ['Rust In Peace'] record is not going to be part of our repertoire going forward. So this is it.

"By the way, I heard from Shawn [Drover, MEGADETH] that while doing an interview to India, the interviewer had the audacity to ask Shawn — the drummer — 'if [former MEGADETH members] Nick Menza [drums] and Marty Friedman [guitar] were coming back.'

"The answer (besides, get some manners) is a resounding NO! Stop asking!!!

"Next! We finally finished the top-secret project I have been working on and let's just say that I have no doubt that it will be in just about every heavy metal music fans' hands, one way or another, within the next year.

"I am so thankful for the turnaround of events and for MEGADETH being able to be a part of your music life for so many, many years.

"From the moment we started working on this new track until just Monday, it was a nail-biting experience, but also from day one until its completion we were being challenged by the excitement of the project, keeping it up to the quality that they expect from us and that they deserve, all while trying to contain all of this good that has been happening for me and for MEGS.

"I really hope to see you all and thank you in person on this next tour for sticking with me while I sorted out my life and while David and I were not playing together. I especially want to thank you for giving David such a warm Droogies welcome home!"

MEGADETH's setlist for the "Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour"] will include the entire 1990 album plus the following MEGADETH classics:

* Set The World Afire
* Wake Up Dead
* In My Darkest Hour
* Sweating Bullets

According to The Pulse of Radio, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS unveiled their first new album in nine years at a private listening party on Tuesday night (February 23) in New York City. The entire band was in attendance at the event, with The Pulse of Radio's reporter on the scene saying that singer Scott Weiland "looked the best he's looked in a long time." All 12 tracks from the album were aired, with The Pulse of Radio reporter calling the record "a natural, melodic progression for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, with BEATLES-esque harmonies, a lot of in-your-face, hard-rocking tracks, plenty of guitar solos and some astounding singing from Weiland."

The yet-to-be-titled album, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS 's sixth, will be out June 1.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in 2008 after a six-year layoff. The band's last album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001.

The disc will be issued through Atlantic Records, although Weiland told The Pulse of Radio at the time of the band's 2008 reunion tour that he was interested in exploring other options outside the traditional music industry. "When we first talked about putting STP back together, it was do this tour and then see about doing a creative deal with another company, like an all-in deal," he said. "And, you know, if you look at even like RADIOHEAD and a handful of other bands, they make more money doing things in an unconventional fashion as opposed to doing it, you know, with the major labels."

Bassist Robert DeLeo said about the new disc, "Fans are going get a great STP record . . . a really cohesive record with songs that are going to be lasting."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' first new album in nine years will now be released on May

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde spoke to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine
about the recent departure of the band's longtime drummer, Craig Nunenmacher,
and addition of veteran rock skinsman Will Hunt (EVANESCENCE, STATIC-X, DARK NEW
DAY, TOMMY LEE, STUCK MOJO).

"Craig's left on good terms," says Wylde. "He wants to try some other music
ideas, but I've told him that he's welcome back any time. That's the thing with
this band. People come in, drink as much as they can, throw up, make some cash
and then move on â€" but everyone's told they can return when they want.

"I know a load of drummers, but it was Jerry Cantrell [ALICE IN CHAINS] who
recommended Will. The plan is for him to do the album and then tour with us.
He's already said that he has commitments coming up with EVANESCENCE â€" but
I've told him that's no problem, as long as he finds us someone else!"

Wylde also revealed to Classic Rock that, while he's no longer working with Ozzy
Osbourne, his relationship with The Prince Of Darkness remains strong and
positive.

"I met up with The Boss when we were both in New York recently," Zakk said. "The
two of us, and mom (Ozzy's wife/manager Sharon Osbourne) and Barbaranne (Wylde's
wife/manager) went out for dinner. That was such a blast!"

Nunenmacher left BLACK LABEL SOCIETY after spending nearly 10 years with the
band.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's as-yet-untitled studio album is due for release this
summer via Roadrunner Records in Europe and E1 Music in North America.

With the new flexibility of having a studio literally outside his home, Wylde
expects to deliver his best material yet.

"With the home studio I have this flexibility when inspiration hits to lay down
new ideas at anytime â€" day or night â€" for re-recording later," he said.
"This freshness should prove inspiring â€" and some of these first takes might
even make it on the album," he enthused.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's last studio album, "Shot to Hell" (2006), sold just under
32,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release â€" less
than the 45,000 copies shifted by BLS's "Mafia" (Artemis) back in March 2005 â€"
to land at position No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SIXX: A.M. â€" the band featuring MÖTLEY CRÃÅ“E bassist Nikki Sixx alongside
James Michael (vocals) and DJ Ashba (guitar) â€" is continuing to write and
record material for its second album, tentatively due before the end of the
year.

SIXX: A.M. is the project Sixx started a couple of years ago whose debut disc
acted as a "soundtrack" to Nikki's memoir, "The Heroin Diaries".

Commented Sixx: "Creating new music is like a rollercoaster ride marked by the
highest highs and the lowest lows. This dose of high highs and low lows doubles
while writing a book that requires me to uncover things from my past I have
either forgotten about or chosen to keep hidden away. Finally, flushing these
waves of emotional honesty through the lens of photography whilst meshing the
words and music together is exhausting, almost to the point of becoming
spiritual.

"The last few weeks in the studio with SIXX: A.M. has been intense and
exhilarating... (not to mention a fucking blast ).

"We finished two more new tunes yesterday. One will rip your heart out and leave
it torn to pieces on the floor... and one is gonna rip your face off... Either
way, you're pretty much fucked... I know I am.

"I don't see this project as just another 'rock' record. This is a very
important album to us as we are constantly struggling for greatness and trying
to push the envelope. It's not only musically, but also lyrically condensed into
these very potent little potions that I feel are open to interpretation.

"When the whole project unfolds, I hope people will be blindsided by the big
picture.

"I feel we're pushing ourselves further beyond what we, as a band, ever
expected."

In a summer 2009 interview with Road Crew Magazine, James Michael stated about
the forthcoming SIXX: A.M. CD, "The new SIXX: A.M. record, it's kind of gonna be
a long time coming, just like the first one was. . . What I can tell you is that
it's gonna be more than just a record full of songs; it is gonna be attached to
some other things, and they are things that are really inspiring to all of us.
And that's really all I can say at this point."

On whether the forthcoming CD will be more about all three members of the band
as opposed to focusing primarily on Nikki, James said, "Yeah. In fact, I think
that the last record ended up being about all three of us in different ways. A
lot of the songs even were written before 'The Heroin Diaries' book came about,
but they all just fit in so well, and we kind of adjusted them to work. I think
that's why 'The Heroin Diaries' soundtrack so well â€" we were all sharing our
personal experiences with it, and we found a universal theme that kind of
worked. Nikki's book happened to be the catalyst for that and happened to be the
guiding force, and I think that's kind of what we're doing on this one. Because
for three songwriters to be in a room writing, it can't just be about one of
those songwriters; I think that it has to be about shared experiences."

Although SIXX: A.M. was initially just a studio project, a touring lineup did go
on the road in 2008 as part of the first Crüe Fest package,

SIXX A.M.'s debut featured the hit "Life Is Beautiful".

MISFITS book author and veteran punk drummer Joel Gausten (PIGFACE, THE UNDEAD,
ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN) has posted an unreleased MISFITS rehearsal demo of "Who
Killed Marilyn?" at this location. The site also includes an in-depth blog
(entitled "15 Years Ago Today…") detailing the recording of this and the other
featured MISFITS demos.

Like Gausten's previously-posted demos ("London Dungeon", "Astro Zombies",
"Hatebreeders", "Angelfuck", "She", "Nike A Go Go" and "I Turned Into A
Martian"), "Who Killed Marilyn?" was recorded on February 25, 1995 â€" exactly
15 years ago â€" at the MISFITS' rehearsal compound in New Jersey. The recording
features Jerry Only on bass, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein on guitar, Eric
Weiss on vocals and a 17-year-old Gausten on drums. The song was part of an
11-song demo recording engineered by MISFITS drummer-to-be, Dr. Chud. These
tracks were recorded several months prior to Michale Graves becoming the band's
official singer.

"Earlier this week, I realized that it would soon be 15 years since this
recording session took place, and I wanted to do something special to celebrate
that date," explains Gausten. "'Who Killed Marilyn?' remains a favorite MISFITS
song of mine, and it was a blast to dig out this recording, go down memory lane
and hear a 17-year-old me make noise with Jerry and Doyle!"

At the time of the recording, Gausten had been serving as one of the band's
fill-in rehearsal drummers while the group was auditioning vocalists. Gausten
detailed his experiences with the MISFITS in his out-of-print 2006 book, "Tales
of Horror: The History of The Misfits & The Undead", which will be re-released
this summer as a deluxe edition with a new cover by artist Shannon
Gardner-Gausten, updated/expanded information on both the MISFITS and THE UNDEAD
and a brand-new interview with former MISFITS drummer "Mr. Jim" Catania.

Legendary guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE, DOKKEN) is in
damage-control mode these days and wants to retract any of his earlier
statements concerning a possible reunion of the classic lineup of DOKKEN.
According to an official press release, Lynch "apologizes for being preemptive
and [claims that he] just simply misspoke in his excitement." He says, "We are
TALKING about a possible reunion for 2011, but it's still in early stages!"

All the members of DOKKEN's classic 1980s lineup reunited on stage for the first
time in more than a decade on November 29, 2009 at the House of Blues in
Anaheim, California. According to Andrew Youssef of the OC Weekly, Don Dokken
appeared on stage and said he had some friends he wanted to introduce. Jeff
Pilson (bass) and George Lynch (guitar) joined Mick Brown (drums) for a two-song
encore of "When Heaven Comes Down" and "In My Dreams".

HAIL! â€" the supergroup featuring David Ellefson (MEGADETH), Mike Portnoy
(DREAM THEATER), Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA) and Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS
PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH) â€" will perform at this year's Rock In
Rio Lisbon festival on Saturday, May 29 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Commented Kisser: "Rock In Rio is an enormous event that started in Brazil but
has blossomed all over the world and we are immensely proud to be playing it!

"Although David Ellefson will not be with us for these dates [due to his
commitments with MEGADETH], we will use this as an opportunity to invite a new
brother (or sister) into the family and as always we've got some surprises lined
up. Also, we have a bunch of European and Asian tour dates planned for this time
and we will be announcing them soon so please stay tuned."

Australian hard rockers AIRBOURNE have reportedly cancelled their shows in
Bilbao, Spain on Friday (February 26) and Barcelona, Spain on Sunday (February

the throat or pharynx). The concerts have since been rescheduled for April 17
and April 18, respectively.

"No Way But The Hard Way", the new video from AIRBOURNE, can be viewed below.
The clip was filmed with director (and SUM 41 drummer) Stephen Martin "Steve"
Jocz (BOWLING FOR SOUP). The song comes off the band's sophomore album, "No
Guts. No Glory.", which is scheduled for release on April 20 via Roadrunner
Records. The special-edition digipack version of the CD will include five bonus

AIRBOURNE traveled to the Windy City to record "No Guts. No Glory." with
producer Johnny K, live and straight to analog tape. Like debut album "Runnin'
Wild", "No Guts. No Glory." continues that good time vibe, but ultimately,
according to Ryan, the record is about "standing up and going for it, and being
a man. There's a tougher element to the album, so to speak." Instead of sleeping
every night in a comfortable hotel room bed on the label's dime, the band
actually slept in the studio, taking inspiration from Bruce Springsteen and his
E STREET BAND, who were known to live in the studio until an album was
completed.

WARBEAST will be joined by a "surprise special guest" during the concert, which will also include additional appearances by HELL GOAT, MITRA, BLOOD STAIN CARPET and TURBID NORTH.

Anselmo previously stated about WARBEAST, "For myself, WARBEAST epitomizes 'the DFW [Dallas/Ft. Worth] thrash metal' sound to its maximum.

"Having grown up seeing RIGOR MORTIS and GAMMACIDE live, collecting their demos and knowing the guys in these bands during my younger, more impressionable years left a resounding imprint on me.

"People know that I was born in New Orleans, but I moved to the DFW area to join PANTERA when I was 17, so I had the privilege of being a part of, and living somewhat vicariously through both local scenes. And the magic of that was how different sounding both scenes were, and how absolutely awesome it was to watch the emergence of the two of them. Having the best of those two extreme worlds not only influenced me as a musician, but it made me fan of both scenes, for life!

"When I listen to modern-day thrash, after two or three songs, I pretty much know what I'm getting thereafter. There's no way in hell ANYONE can say that about WARBEAST. No fucking way. Without bowing down to the doldrums of an obvious 'technical metal' band nor to today's EXODUS worship, every song is its own SONG; riff-delirium, thunderous cadences and classic thrash vocals delivered in TRUE, classic thrash style.

"WARBEAST are a great band… and will prove to be major players in the very near future…you can bet your ass on that."

RED RIVER REVIVAL, the band featuring former members of SUPERJOINT RITUAL and ARTIMUS PYLEDRIVER, entered Philip Anselmo's (DOWN, PANTERA, SUPERJOINT RITUAL) recording studio in Louisiana last year to begin laying down tracks for its debut album for release via Anselmo's Housecore Records. The group has since issued the following update:

"Through writing and recording this album together, artistic differences started to pop up along the way.

"It's been a blast, but RED RIVER REVIVAL are splitting ways due to the differences.

"There is absolutely no bad blood between any of us. We respect the hell out of each other as musicians and as good, honest people.

"For fans of the music, no fear! Side projects and demos are already rolling and we will be leaving [our MySpace] page up to keep everyone updated on those!

"Thanks to everyone involved and everyone who came out to the shows! Be patient, the new projects will be well worth the wait!"

In a 2008 interview with Nonelouder, vocalist Dave Slocum stated about the band's sound, "RED RIVER REVIVAL is boogie rock! Lots of melody and soul, preachin' and hollerin'. Heavy blues is what I think best describes us. Kevin Bond [ex-SUPERJOINT RITUAL] has written some really cool stuff, very ZZ TOP. Kevin didn't write any of the SUPERJOINT stuff, so I think people will be surprised to hear what style he actually represents. People are already saying that RED RIVER REVIVAL is better than ARTIMUS."

RED RIVER REVIVAL was:

Dave Slocum - Vocals
Kevin Bond - Guitar
Miles Griffin - Guitar
Brad Kemp - Bass
Joey Robertson – Drums

Lancaster, Pennsylvania's THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE recently entered Spin Studios
in New York with Josh Wilbur (ATREYU, AVENGED SEVENFOLD) and Chris Adler (of
LAMB OF GOD) to begin recording the follow-up to the band's 2008 album,
"Monuments". A spring release via Good Fight Music is expected.

Commented Adler: "I've been wanting to produce a band other than my own for a
while now, but never found one that inspired me quite enough to jump in. It's an
exhaustive process to commit your creativity and focus to someone else.

"Most bands that are noticed today do one thing really well, or are known for a
particular direction. Few combine as many elements as seamlessly as THIS OR THE
APOCALYPSE.

"This record is intense, to say the least. It feels like a landmark music
moment. Time will tell, but I'm obviously pretty f'n psyched."

Added THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE vocalist Ricky Armellino: "Normally when you meet
people in Adler's position, the last thing on their mind is finding new music or
even listening to it. Chris still finds the time. He's full of music and got a
ton of energy.

"I feel like getting him into the writing/recording process for the new album
was an incredible circumstance for us. From day one we've been shooting back and
forth demos, lyric sheets, home recordings of WHITE LION songs and developing a
lot of ideas together.

"Josh Wilbur's an incredible vocal producer and his recordings are organic,
huge, and a cut above anything you hear in the genre, so getting him in the mix
was a huge blessing for the project. These guys are family to us now and we
can't wait to get this monster on the shelves."

Consisting of Armellino, Jack Esbenshade (guitar), Rodney Phillips (guitars),
Grant McFarland (drums) and Sean Hennessey (bass), THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE
encompasses a sound that melds the fine Pennsylvania traditions that have
brought us the likes of AUGUST BURNS RED, A LIFE ONCE LOST and THIS DAY FORWARD
while taking their musical direction to a new and uncharted height. Exhibiting a
veteran-like display of confidence and focus, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE's
accelerated evolution redefines how bands come into their own. THIS OR THE
APOCALYPSE tightrope walks between masterfully crafted time signatures, dense
rock grooves and melodic atmosphere. Their music combines the precision and
technical prowess of MESHUGGAH with the raw, emotive urgency of SHAI HULUD and
MISERY SIGNALS: A sound that is loud, compelling, and unique.

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen recently entered Petrax Studios in Hollola, Finland to begin recording her new solo album, "What Lies Beneath", for a late 2010 release. She writes on her blog, "I recorded my first-ever piano tracks!

"The grand piano in the studio is Bechstein, which sound I truly love. Bechstein is a very moody piano in general. I have the same brand at home as well.

"In these songs you will easily 'recognize' me playing the piano parts instead of a professional pianist. So if I don't consider myself as a piano player, you shouldn't do that either.

"The feeling in these songs is the most important matter and I think I captured it."

Turunen previously stated about "What Lies Beneath ", "The process for my second album started back in June 2008. Among the first songs that my friends and I composed at that time, a character called Naiad was born. The fantasy story of Naiad gave me the idea for the album title and for the whole album concept: 'What Lies Beneath'.

"It has been wonderful to be able to brainstorm again and decide the direction the album is going to take. I hope that you will be surprised again by my work; because that's the way I like it."

Turunen will perform a special "Classic and Divine" opera rock show with a symphonic orchestra and choir on June 12, 2010 at the Miskolc International Opera Festival at at the Miskolc Ice Hall in Miskolc, Hungary. Tarja's two-hour set will include a selection of the best-loved songs from her "My Winter Storm " solo album, classical gems, unpredictable rock covers, tracks from her career with NIGHTWISH, and songs from her upcoming album, "What Lies Beneath". She will be accompanied by her own band, a symphonic orchestra and a choir.

Turunen recently recorded three songs for a Finnish Christmas album, produced by Olli Ahvenlahti. According to Turunen, this was "a charity project for missionary workers in Finland."

Tarja's last album, "My Winter Storm", was re-released in January 2009. This double CD "extended special edition" was packed with 32 tracks, including the CD "My Winter Storm" with the addition of the song "The Seer" in its original version. The bonus disc presented several new tracks, remixes and live recordings. Among them, the new song "Enough" and "The Seer", this time featuring a duet with German rock star Doro Pesch.

NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon has scrapped her previously announced plans to release a solo album. She writes on her official blog, "The factors [that contributed to my decision] are mainly that I want to focus on my family during this break from NIGHTWISH. I am sure I will do a solo some other time, but at this time it doesn't fit into my life and then it's better to not do it than to do it and it just won't feel good. But I hope you all will follow me and the boys in NIGHTWISH from the summer when we start to work with the new album. It will be fun!!"

Olzon spent time last fall in Stockholm, Sweden creating songs for what was supposed to be her solo CD with Swedish producers Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner. The album was slated to be co-produced by Swedish producer/songwriter Anders Bagge, who has previously worked with MADONNA, CELINE DION, JANET JACKSON and JESSICA SIMPSON, among others. He is also one of judges on the Swedish TV talent competition "Idol" and a producer of the TV series "Made in Sweden".

Olzon and MUSTASCH performed a medley of five songs which were nominated in the "Song Of The Year" category during the January 19 "P3 Guld" (Swedish radio's annual music awards) live awards ceremony broadcast from the Scandinavium Arena in Gothenburg, Sweden. The singer also appeared on August 13, 2009 with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra at a special concert in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the Stockholms Kulturfestival (Stockholm's Culture Festival). Video footage of that performance can be viewed below.

NIGHTWISH played a special homecoming show in September 2009 at the sold-out, 11,000-capacity Hartwall Arena in Helsinki to mark the end of the band's colossal "Dark Passion Play" two-year world tour. Support at the gig came from APOCALYPTICA.

NIGHTWISH is not expected to play any more shows until the release of the band's next studio album in September 2011.

German/Greek metal band MYSTIC PROPHECY has parted ways with temporary drummer
Matt C., who played with the group during its recent tour with STRATOVARIUS.
Because of "occupational and personal reasons," it's not possible for Matt to
remain with the band permanently.

MYSTIC PROPHECY is seeking a drummer "who feels confident to play their material
and is seriously interested in becoming their new member," according to a press
release. Interested parties can contact the band at martin@deathsquad.de or
rdlia@aol.com.

"Fireangel", the sixth album from the MYSTIC PROPHECY, entered the German Media
Control chart at position No. 77. Released on May 22, 2009 via Massacre Records,
the follow-up to 2007's "Satanic Curses" was recorded at Prophecy Studios and
was mixed in Sweden under the direction of Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, ARCH
ENEMY, IN FLAMES) and R.D. Liapakis (FIREWIND, CHASTAIN, ELDRITCH).

German melodic folk/death metallers SUIDAKRA have added three headlining shows in California to their North American itinerary. The group's schedule is now as follows:

SUIDAKRA's ninth album, "Crógacht", was released in the U.S. in March 2009 through Wacken Records/SPV.

Over its 16-year history, SUIDAKRA has stayed true to its roots and the sound that it has become known for. Combining fast melodic death metal, Irish folk music , and a torrent of harmonies, SUIDAKRA proves yet again that it possesses the ability to blend several different influences into its unique sound. To put a spin on things, new elements have been introduced, like traditional instruments (bagpipes, banjo, tin whistles), a sixteen member choir and epic orchestral arrangements.

Recorded at Gernart Studios with producer Martin Muchwalter, "Crógacht" delivers an aural assault. In addition to that, the eyes and mind of the listener will also be pleased, as famous Belgian graphic artists Kris Verwimp is responsible not only for the magnificent artwork in the digipack and 16-page booklet, but also for the lyrics of this fascinating concept album. "Crógacht", meaning bravery, is based on one of the most dramatic tales in Irish mythology. It tells the story of the hero Cuchulainn's epic journey to the Isle of Skye, where he seeks to learn the arts of war from the Scythian warrior woman Scathach. The decisions he then has to make set the events in motion that will lead up to his son Conlaoch's tragic fate…

With overwhelming reactions to their 2006 release, "Caledonia", and their November 2008 DVD/Best of CD, "13 Years of Celtic Wartunes", SUIDAKRA has performed over 200 live shows (including the Wacken Open Air festival five times), and successfully completed several tours in Europe, Russia, and a first-ever American tour.

The band added, "We have two absolutely smashing hit songs, both perfect for a video clip ."

EDENBRIDGE's live album, "LiveEarthDream", was released in May 2009. The disc was recorded at various concerts in 2008 and can only and exclusively be ordered through the band's fanshop. The album is limited to 1,000 copies and will not be available anywhere else.

THERION is putting the finishing touches on its new album, "Sitra Ahra", which will be mixed at the legendary Polar Studios in Stockholm. 13 songs are being recorded for the CD, although it is presently unclear if all of the tracks will end up on the final record.

THERION mainman Christofer Johnsson previously stated about the upcoming CD, "Expect something spectacular, even by THERION's standards!"

Christofer Johnsson announced in May 2009 that vocalist Thomas Vikström (ex-CANDLEMASS) had become a permanent member of THERION.

THERION's new rhythm section is comprised of Johan Koleberg (ANIMAL, ZAN CLAN, LION'S SHARE) on drums and Nalle "Grizzly" Påhlsson (TREAT, ZAN CLAN, VINDICTIV) on bass guitar .

THERION's latest CD/DVD, "The Miskolc Experience", was released in June via Nuclear Blast Records.

The set's description reads as follows: "After the phenomenal last studio album 'Gothic Kabbalah' (2007), easily THERION's most stunning effort since 'Theli', and the follow-up live CD 'Live Gothic' (2008), THERION mastermind and only remaining founding member Christofer Johnsson decided to go for a rather special project: the band's appearance at the remarkable and renowned International Opera Festival in Miskolc, Hungary in 2007 was taped on and off stage to preserve a truly unique classic metal event for the THERION fanbase! The first part — dubbed 'Classical Adventures' — features some of Christofer's favourite composers (especially his all-time fave, Wagner) and does completely without guitars or any metal instrumentation whatsoever. Just orchestra and choir. Part two, 'Therion Songs', delivers exactly that: finest THERION material performed by the band, a huge orchestra and choir. Rounding off 'The Miskolc Experience' is an entertaining
documentary which gives insight in the complicated organisation and the no less complicated execution with all ups and downs for the involved crew and musicians.

"'The Miskolc Experience' is the testimony of the brilliant Johnsson/Niemann/Niemann/Karlsson THERION lineup which Christofer Johnsson decided to dissolve in late 2008. This chapter of THERION is closed, a new era is about to begin — and THERION will soon open the book once again!"

Vocalist Jonathan "Joller" Albrechtsen has quit Danish thrashers HATESPHERE. His temporary replacement is Morten "Kruge" Madsen of the Danish metal band MEVADIO.

Despite Jonathan's exit, HATESPHERE has no intention of calling it a day and will hit the American shores as planned on February 24 as part of a month-long tour with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, OBSCURA and AUGURY.

Commented HATESPHERE bassist Mixen Lindberg: "Today is one of those strange days where two equally strong feelings are tossing my insides around in a ponderous fistfight. One is gloomy and leaving me with a sensation that we're stuck knee-deep in a twitch. The other one is relieved, proud and stronger than ever.

"Today we part ways with Joller. Having a hard time combining full-time work, two bands and a general lack of excitement on his part, Joller came to the conclusion that his time in HATESPHERE was up. We debated for a couple of days there, but saw it fitting that we let him go because you can't be in this band if your heart is not in place. So, as sad as it may be, we're happy to send him on his way so we can all on move on towards bigger and better things, fully focused.

"Now, we've endured hardship before so I am not worried one bit. Also, the energy in the band is at an all-time high, especially since Mike [Park, drums] joined us last year, and at this point, we're already in contact with several possible singers (with some really interesting people in the mix, might I add!). Tryouts will commence immediately upon arrival from our forthcoming U.S. tour, and shortly after that we will hit the studio to record something new and fresh."

In other news, HATESPHERE has acquired a new U.K. agent in the shape of Ian Shaw from Factory Music (CHILDREN OF BODOM, EXODUS, etc.). Touring activities for the U.K. and rest of Europe are already in the works.

HATESPHERE's latest album, "To The Nines " entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 36. The CD was recorded over a nine-day period at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY, GOREFEST).

Norwegian black metallers 1349 will release their new album, "Demonoir", on April 26 in Europe via Indie Recordings and one day later in North America through Prosthetic Records.

According to a press release, "Demonoir" is "without a shadow of a doubt 1349's darkest, most sinister and brutal work to date, and in this case it comes to mean that the band has gone from the utterly extreme to the genre-expanding and mindboggling. Black metal cannot, and will never be the same.

"For the band's fifth full-length release, 1349 decided to suck out the fiercest and most potent energies from every single member and surroundings, channeling it into songs that are pulsating with uncanny atmospheres, rawness and nerve-shattering intensity. The whole process of getting the material on record was like one long, exhausting black magic summoning that could not be allowed to go wrong."

"Demonoir" will be available in three different versions:

* Regular CD
* Limited digipack version with special artwork, including a bonus CD with cover versions.
* Double 180-gram vinyl in gatefold sleeve. Includes cover versions.

1349 will embark on a North American tour in April and May as the support act for CANNIBAL CORPSE (alongside SKELETONWITCH and LECHEROUS NOCTURNE). (Note, 1349 will not appear on the last week of the tour.)

1349 rose from the ashes of ALVHEIM in 1997, and in 2003 they released their debut album, "Liberation". Since then, 1349 has added three more albums to its critically acclaimed catalog.

1349 is:

Ravn - Vocals
Archaon - Guitar
Seidemann - Bass
Frost – Drums
