Re: [HeavyMetalHeaven] Digest Number 2286

> I think people who listened nirvana were not metalheads

Many Metallers listen to other styles of music and that includes Nirvana.

Many who were into Metal stopped listening when Metal went out of fashion, they just grew up and grew out of following bands.

> so I don't think grunge killed metal.

Metal was in fashion then went out of fashion the moment grunge was in fashion - that is all that happened.

The thing about whatever is in fashion is that it goes out of fashion as soon as the next fashion takes over.

Metal and grunge are still around in some form, I don't think any music killed any other, the fashion just changes.

> Grunge was in headlines and record companies were gettin easy money for a while.

They are doing that now with Metalcore, etc. and were doing the same with Metal, Glam Metal,  New Wave, New Romantic, Glam Rock, etc.

> But grunge didnt kill metal. It killed makeup bands like Poison etc.

All Metal bands suffered to some extent, Poison played the Tony awards a few months ago, Nirvana will never play any show again.

> Many of those Glambands literally washed their faces and tried to survive.

Every band apart from decade old radio bands are trying to survive.

You can blame the free songs you downloaded into your iPod for the demise of many bands and labels.
