[HeavyMetalHeaven] Aerosmith, Paul Rodgers, Queen, Iron Maiden and tons more hard rock and heavy metal news

AEROSMITH has confirmed the following South American dates as part of its "Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock Tour 2010":

May 18 - Caracas, Venezuela - Estacionamiento del poliedro- La Rinconada
May 20 - Bogota, Colombia - Simon Bolivar Park
May 22 - Lima, Peru - Esplandada Monumental
May 25 - Santiago, Chile ; Estadio Nacional
May 27 - Buenos Aires, Argentina - Hippordromo San Isidro
May 29 - Sao Paulo, Brazil - Palmeiras

A short video message from the band announcing the tour can be viewed below.

AEROSMITH recently announced a total of 11 shows for its European trip, with stops in Romania, Greece, Holland, Belgium, France, Italy and the Czech Republic added to previously revealed gigs in Sweden, Spain and the U.K.

There's no word on whether the band will re-launch the U.S. trek with ZZ TOP that was scrapped midway through last summer when vocalist Steven Tyler injured himself in a fall from the stage, which began a troubled six-month period for the group.

The singer subsequently announced his intention to take a two-year break from AEROSMITH and focus on a solo project, which in turn led the rest of the band to publicly discuss getting a new frontman.

Tyler entered rehab in December for an addiction to painkillers, and his management and attorneys threatened legal action if AEROSMITH went forward with finding a new singer.

The Pulse of Radio reports: Nearly a year after parting ways with Brian May and Roger Taylor of QUEEN, Paul Rodgers says that he's amenable to teaming up with the pair for special occasions. After a five-year-run, Rodgers announced in May that PAUL RODGERS + QUEEN had called it quits. Although some industry insiders were aware of the impending split, fans that were anxiously waiting for the band to finally announce North American dates in support of their 2008 album "The Cosmos Rocks", were caught completely off guard.

Rodgers explains that there are absolutely no hard feelings between him, May, and Taylor, but stresses that his time with the group spiraled into a longer commitment than he imagined. "It did kind of escalate a little bit, and it was a lot of fun — I really, really enjoyed it," he said. "But I did turn around and I looked at how much time . . . I said, 'Wo, I've been with these guys for four years!' And I didn't want to lose my own sense of identity. I felt that I was being sucked into another entity — which is a beautiful thing — the thing that they do. So we've left it open. So, if there is some charity work or some shows like that to do, y'know, we could come back together and do that. That's how we've left it."

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have set "The Final Frontier" as the title of their new studio album, due late summer of this year.

The announcement comes with news of a North American tour with very special guests DREAM THEATER to open in Dallas, Texas, on June 9 and finish in Washington D.C. on July 20, making it MAIDEN's most extensive North American tour in many years.

Following these shows in USA and Canada, "The Final Frontier World Tour" will travel back to Europe for a few selected major festival and stadium shows with the band planning to continue to many other countries in 2011.

An exclusive pre-sale allowing members of the IRON MAIDEN fan club first access to tickets to the North American MAIDEN shows will be made available two days prior to them being available to the public.

Tickets for the Canadian shows will go on sale to the public on Saturday, March 13 at 10 a.m. PST (10 a.m. EST for Toronto and 12 noon EST Montreal). Exclusive first access to the tickets will be available to IRON MAIDEN fan club members on Wednesday, March 10 at 10 a.m. PST through to Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. PST (EST for Toronto). Regretfully due to technical reasons an exclusive pre-sale in Montreal is not possible.

Tickets for the U.S. shows will go on sale to the public on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. EST. Exclusive first access to the tickets will be available to IRON MAIDEN fan club members on Wednesday, March 17 at 10 a.m. EST through to Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. EST

As IRON MAIDEN are actively dedicated to ensuring their fans always have access to the best possible tickets at the fairest possible price, without being subject to scalping for good seats, so many North American shows will operate, at least in part, a paperless ticket policy.

To give IRON MAIDEN fan club members a privileged insight to their touring world, IMTV will return to www.ironmaiden.com to cover "The Final Frontier World Tour". This exclusive footage includes regular video from the live shows, touring, band interviews, insights into our crew and what they do and much much more. IRON MAIDEN recorded "The Final Frontier" at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley. According to a posting on Kevin's official web site, "There's still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak."

Shirley previously worked on the last three MAIDEN albums — 2000's "Brave New World", 2003's "Dance of Death" and 2006's "A Matter of Life and Death".

The next IRON MAIDEN album will be the band's fifteenth studio record, and they face a challenge to follow up "A Matter of Life and Death", which was received well critically and saw the group play the whole album on tour.

Speaking at last year's premiere of the band's documentary film "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", guitarist Adrian Smith stated, "There's always a bit of pressure to follow up the last album. In a way, it's good, because it motivates you.

"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do — we've been doing it long enough now; we know what we're doing. [laughs]"

IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers revealed to BBC News in November that the band was on its way "to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff." He added, "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."

IRON MAIDEN will headline this year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.

MAIDEN became the first outfit in history to travel round the world in a customized jet during their "Somewhere Back in Time" tour, as detailed in award-winning movie "Flight 666".

The Boeing 757 carried musicians, crew, gear and guests with singer Bruce Dickinson, a qualified airline pilot, at the controls.
Prog rock/metal icons DREAM THEATER will spend their summer supporting IRON MAIDEN on the band's month-long tour of major U.S. and Canadian markets. The tour launches on June 9 and runs through July 20, and includes a stop at the storied Madison Square Garden in New York City, marking the first time in a lengthy and respected career that DREAM THEATER will have played the world's most famous arena. This tour will mark another milestone in DREAM THEATER's history, which continues to expand and evolve, twenty-five years deep.

Of touring with IRON MAIDEN in North America, DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy said, "It is a bit of a dream come true for us.

"After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands DREAM THEATER would consider opening for and MAIDEN is one of them.

"It is an absolute honor.

"Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with MAIDEN and they've almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond, no less.

"These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won't want to miss.

"Up the fucking irons!"

Playing Madison Square Garden for the first time is also a huge accomplishment for the band and they are thrilled about the prospect.

"DREAM THEATER has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in New York City," Portnoy recalled. "But the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with IRON MAIDEN, that dream will finally be fulfilled."

Guitarist John Petrucci was equally stoked about the Madison Square Garden play, saying, "I am unbelievably excited to be finally playing Madison Square Garden, and with the almighty MAIDEN to boot! They have been heroes to the band since the beginning and are iconic in our eyes.

"There is nothing like achieving success and recognition in your own country, in your own city. It's going to be an incredible night, for sure."

Portnoy has proof of this career-long dream, saying, "About a month ago, my family and I were watching a video of my first band INTRUDER from back in 1983, and in the video before the show, I was interviewed and asked what my dream goal was. I responded 'To play the Garden.' It took almost 30 years, but it's surreal that I will now be able to check it off the list."

Tour dates for the IRON MAIDEN/DREAM THEATER run are as follows:

Tickets go on sale March 5 at 11:00 a.m.

Israeli fans of the legendary heavy metal band METALLICA have ended their
boycott of the group's May 22 concert at the Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv after
reaching an agreement with the show's promoter about a significant drop in
ticket prices.

The fans created a Facebook page to initiate a boycott of the concert after
learning that the cheapest tickets for the show were going for around $159.
According to the creators of the page, METALLICA tickets around the world were
being sold for significantly less than the tickets that were available for
purchase for the Tel Aviv gig.

The show's promoter Marcel Avram was said to be behind the high ticket prices,
according to Metal Israel.

The fans were proposing that the price should range from 300 to 600 shekel or
around $80 to $160, depending on the seat quality, which they insisted was still
high, as international bands that come to Israel generally charge 175 to 250
shekel ($46 to $66).

Tomer Mussman and Rotem Horovitz, two of the fans who launched the effort to
bring awareness to this issue, have released the following update on the matter:

"Friends, I'm shaking with excitement as I'm writing this.

"After a four-day campaign, tens of news items about us worldwide, over 6,000
supporters and numerous media interviews, we can say that we did it! We won!

"This afternoon, Or and Tomer Mussman met with Mr. Gad Oron, the promoter's
representative, and reached an agreement about a significant drop in ticket
prices.

"We would like to personally thank METALLICA and their management for directly
helping us with reaching our goal and reducing the prices.

"We are officially asking each and every one of you to stop the boycott, and
come and enjoy METALLICA's concert with us on May 22.

"We want to thank each and every one of you who made their contribution to our
successful campaign by joining, signing the petition, or sending links from and
to the media everywhere and helping our voice to be heard and echo all around
the world.

"We want to thank the producers, METALLICA members and management who were
willing to talk to us."

The new prices ticket prices can be seen at this location. They are also listed
below.

This will be METALLICA's third visit to Israel; they appeared at the Amphi Park
in Rishon Letzion in 1999 and Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park six years earlier.

METALLICA wrapped the first leg of the jaunt at the end of January in Brazil,
resuming in early March with stops in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Venezuela,
Panama and Colombia.

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and his solo band have been confirmed as
the support act for GUNS N' ROSES in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Peru. Bach
will also open for GUNS N' ROSES at all Brazilian dates.

For a list of confirmed shows, see the poster below.

Bach's current solo band includes guitarists Nick Sterling and Johnny Chromatic,
drummer Bobby Jarzombek and bassist Rob DeLuca.

Bach and DANKO JONES supported GUNS N' ROSES on their recently completed
Canadian tour.

Sebastian recently collaborated with HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta on several
tracks for Bach's new solo album, with Nick and Charlie Bellmore of the
Connecticut band PHANTOMS assisting during the pre-production process. The
singer has also written material with John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON).

Bach is best known for selling 20 million albums as the former lead singer of
SKID ROW. He has gone on to star on Broadway and television, including five
seasons on CW's "Gilmore Girls", as well as hit shows on VH1, MTV and CMT.
Bach's most recent studio project was "Angel Down", his first solo album since
1999. The record features 14 songs with a guest appearance by GUNS N' ROSES
front man Axl Rose on three cuts, including a blistering version of AEROSMITH's
"Back In The Saddle".

Eden Munro of Canada's Vue Weekly recently conducted separate interviews with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and guitarist Chris Broderick. A couple of excerpts from each chat follow below.

On the genesis of MEGADETH's tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band's seminal album "Rust in Peace":

Dave Mustaine: "It was basically a challenge. My manager said, 'Do you think you could still do it?' and I said, 'Of course I could still do it,' and I guess kind of the gauntlet was thrown down."

On coming across as a happy man, comfortable at last in his own skin and with the lineup he shares the stage with: drummer Shawn Drover, guitarist Chris Broderick and his old friend David Ellefson, once again on bass:

Dave Mustaine: "I think this is a really great story with a happy ending, where we're at right now, what's happened in my personal life. You know, people make fun of me because of my becoming a Christian, and I'm thinking, 'God, man, if anybody needed to have their life changed it was me.' But I didn't get soft; I certainly didn't stop shredding on guitar. When 'Countdown to Extinction' came out [in 1992] and we had the number two record in the United States, that was pretty inebriating, but I was still in that place where I didn't want to be number two. I wanted to be number one, and 'Achy Breaky Heart' was the number one record and I was pissed. Since then I've learned that you've got to pick your battles — you've got to decide what you're going to get emotional over, and I get more pleasure out of helping people. I just got a letter back from the children's hospital here in San Diego about all the toys we donated over Christmas and it showed this
little girl that was two that has cancer and, man, I tell you, talk about making you want to cry when you see that stuff and making you grateful."

On his recent reunion with bassist David Ellefson:

Dave Mustaine: "We've got a lot of stuff that we need to talk about, and obviously the time will present itself. I made a promise to myself to try to be the absolute best band leader that I can possibly be and that's going to entail me several times having to have the past recalled, and it's not always pleasant to have someone hold up a mirror in front of you. I guess the most important thing is willingness: am I willing to look at my part in any of the things that might have led to us not being best friends again? Because I don't always know how the things that I say and do affect people. Sometimes I'm doing or saying stuff to be funny and everybody laughs in the room, but you never really hear under all the laughter the guy muttering under his breath, 'I'm gonna kill you, Dave.'"

Vue Weekly: How familiar were you with "Rust in Peace" before joining MEGADETH?

Chris Broderick: "Rust in Peace" was really the CD that kind of brought me into MEGADETH, because I was always into the Shrapnel [Records] guys, the shredders, and I'd known about Marty Friedman from him playing with Jason Becker [co-guitarist in CACOPHONY], and so "Rust in Peace" was definitely the CD that brought me into the MEGADETH fold. That's the CD that I absolutely love the most.

Vue Weekly: How do you approach the songs that were recorded before you were in the band?

Chris Broderick: Definitely note-for-note. First, it helps me personally because I get the benefit of all of the phrasing and the concepts that the original artist intended when they were writing it, so in this case a lot of what Marty Friedman did, I get to internalize it and grow from his phrasing. And secondly, I think the fans really deserve that because they grew up with [the album]. A lot of them, it speaks their language.

Vue Weekly: A typical setlist is constructed with a different flow than an album, with more of a focus on a wide selection of songs that fans know from throughout the catalogue. How does it feel to just start up at one end of "Rust in Peace" and blast straight through to the other?

Chris Broderick: I've never been one to really get into the process of selecting a set for the night, but I do know that you want to try to build up. One of the big considerations in the first part of the show is making sure the soundman gets the sound right, so it's choosing the right songs for that — too fast and too chaotic and it would be hard for the soundman to get the sound dialed in quickly, so you want to kind of ease into it and then pick the show up from there, so there are intentional climaxes in a good setlist. Now with this, it's just running the CD from beginning to end, and I love that because that's the way I listen to the CD. I know a lot of people will just download a specific song these days, but for me a CD is kind of like a slice in time that kind of tells you what those people were thinking overall, so I always listen to the whole CD, and performing it is kind of the same thing.

Former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin's HEADLESS CROSS, whose live set celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of the SABBATH album "Headless Cross", will NOT perform at this year's Hammerfest II festival, set to take place March 11-13, 2010 at Pontins, Prestatyn Sands, North Wales, United Kingdom.

Commented Martin: "It is with great disapointment that I have to tell you we have been removed from the U.K. metal fest. Yep, it's true!! We have been evicted from our first-ever U.K. show by the organisers and for the first time ever from an event!!!

"I'm not sure if I should be angry or parade it as a trophy!!!! Actually, that's stupid... Of course, we are very angry and we feel with good cause.

"Details will be posted in time but it is my duty to tell those that are intending to be there on our behalf that we will NOT be appearing on March 12th... we will NOT be appearing.

"Apologies to you all."

HEADLESS CROSS includes the following musicians:

Tony Martin (BLACK SABBATH)- Vocals
Rolf Munkes (EMPIRE) - Guitar
Jamie Mallender - Bass
Danny Needham (BAILEY'S COMET, RAZORBACK) - Drums
Geoff Nicholls (BLACK SABBATH) – Keyboards

BLACK SABBATH released six albums with Tony Martin on vocals: "The Eternal Idol" (1987), "Headless Cross" (1989), "Tyr" (1990), "Cross Purposes" (1994), "Cross Purposes Live" (1995) and "Forbidden" (1995).

In a brand new interview with AOL's Noisecreep, former PANTERA singer Philip
Anselmo was asked about the upcoming 20th-anniversary remastered edition of the
band's 1990 album "Cowboys From Hell", which will include bonus tracks and new
artwork. "I just did some liner notes for that," he said. 'It dredged up a lot
of memories and me thinking, 'My God, 99 percent of the songs on 'Cowboys' were
written in 1989, and we were prepared for that record.' Production-wise, [late
PANTERA guitarist] Dimebag [Darrell Abbott] really brought a roaring guitar
tone. He always had that, even back in the day.

"The way records sound or sounded back then was also production, which was in
transition, with Terry Date producing and Vinnie Paul [Abbott, drums] and his
studio prowess, if you will. They made some marked advancements as far as
capturing guitar sounds go.

"We were songwriters, but we were also ... that threatening edge was there. It
wasn't found in a typical metal band. We knew what we were onto.

"I will say it. I said it before, I don't think PANTERA truly found their sound
'till [1992's] 'Vulgar' ['Display Of Power'], but 'Cowboys' was a fantastic
precursor."

Regarding his involvement on the upcoming "Cowboys" reissue, Philip said, "They
asked me to [write the liner notes for it]. I jotted notes and sent them back,
and they said, 'Well, if Phil is writing this, let's get more out of him.' So
they came back, asked for me. It ended up being a lengthy write-up.

"It has to be approved by all of us."

When asked how he is deal witn Dimebag's loss five years after the guitarist was
murdered while performing with his band DAMAGEPLAN in Columbus, Ohio, Anselmo
said, "I will say that with each passing year, it gets harder and harder and
harder. This year was really rough. This past December was excruciating.

"When I look around today and see what an impact that we made, and where heavy
metal is at today, and I think of what could have been? What should have been?
It's very hard. It's hard to come to grips with it. However, with that said, I
am a man who likes to live in the now.

"All I can do is â€" like everyone else, like you, like any other fans, and
anyone walking the streets that has love in their heart for what PANTERA has
done â€" is sit back finally and listen to it as a fan.

"Pride is a tough thing in and of itself. To be proud of yourself is fine and
all, but there is a certain amount of pride there. But regret does hover over
the whole thing within my emotions. But I am living in the now.

"All I can do is love him and cherish these memories and know that no matter
what is said, no matter what has been believed, or no matter what the conception
is in anyone's little mind out there, I was there. I lived it â€" from the
practice room, of every jam session, of every writing session, of every song.

"Those are my songs. Those are my words. That in itself can't be beat. You can't
beat it.

"What an experience."

Six years on from his last studio album, "Messenger Of The Gods", keyboard
virtuoso Mistheria is hard at work with the recording of his new 11-track
neo-classical/progressive metal album, entitled "Dragon Fire", set for release
in the second half of 2010 via Lion Music.

Mistheria, the keyboardist of choice for IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson on
the "Tyranny Of Souls" album, has pulled in a number of great names for
"Dragon's Fire" in vocalists John West (ARTENSION, ex-ROYAL HUNT), Mark Boals
(ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), Rob Rock (IMPELLITTERI), Lance King, and Titta Tani
(ASTRA). Guitars come courtesy of George Bellas (RING OF FIRE, MOGG/WAY), Roger
Staffelbach (ARTENSION, ANGEL OF EDEN), Neil Zaza and Emir Hot. The rhythm
section comprises of drummer John Macaluso (ARK) and bassist Dino Fiorenza.

Some working songtitles for the album include "Fire & Flames", "Killing The
Pain", "The Power Of One" and "Chopin Fantasy", with the rough demos already
showing this will be an essential release for fans of early ARTENSION, classic
YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and SYMPHONY X.

Last week George Bellas recorded all his guitars and John Macaluso is currently
in the process of tracking his drums. Macaluso stated, "I just did half the
tracks for Mistheria's album and it came out amazing! Over the top, with heavy
groove and orchestrated kicks everywhere. I've got a really fat drum sound, â€"
it's like [John] Bonham playing double bass in an orchestra."

Acclaimed guitarist/producer Roy Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD, TRIBE OF GYPSIES) will headline a four-band line-up with his jam band SERPENTS & RAINBOWS this Saturday, March 6 at Paladino's (6101 Reseda Blvd.) in Tarzana, California. "Snakes for the Divine", the new album from the Oakland, California-based power
trio HIGH ON FIRE, sold around 8,600 copies in its first week of release in the
United States to debut at position No. 63 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Snakes for the Divine" will be released in Europe on March 8 via Century Media
Records (under exclusive license from E1 Music). The follow-up to 2007's "Death
is this Communion", which was made available in North America on February 23 via
E1 Music, was recorded at The Pass Studios in Los Angeles with producer Greg
Fidelman and is described in a press release as "HIGH ON FIRE's magnum opus,
capturing every nuance of the legendary band's ongoing musical progression and
evolution into one of heavy music's all-time greats. Sharper, faster and darker
than anything the group has ever recorded, 'Snakes for the Divine' is an
unrelenting tour de force, showcasing cult guitar hero Matt Pike's utterly
unique and inventive musicianship and the band's epic, thundering sound. Premium
production by Fidelman â€" the man who produced SLAYER's 'World Painted Blood'
and is mixing the upcoming METALLICA live album â€" boosts HIGH ON FIRE's
strength and power while
blackened lyrical tales of ancient wars, frozen planets and doomed societies
emerge from Pike's bellowing barks and throaty war cries. From the moment the
leviathan-like title track explodes to kick off the album, it is immediately
evident that HIGH ON FIRE is determined to push modern heavy metal into new and
uncharted realms."

"Snakes for the Divine" track listing:

01. Snakes for the Divine

03. Bastard Samurai

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans DEATH ANGEL have entered Audiohammer
Studios in Sanford, Florida in March with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, AUGUST
BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL THAT REMAINS, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER)
to begin recording their new album for a tentative September release via Nuclear
Blast Records.

Commented guitarist Rob Cavestany: "After months of writing and pre-production
in our Oakland rehearsal studio, I'm suddenly a temporary resident of Sanford,
Florida!

"I have travelled across the country to begin the process of recording our new
album at Audiohammer Studios and tonight we kicked in the action.

"Monday was all about getting acquainted, listening to music, getting a vibe and
discussing the game plan. Tonight we worked on tempos, arrangements, riffs and
guitar harmonies... getting right down to the core of the songs.

"I laid down scratch guitar tracks for the first four songs, and damn, how they
have blossomed from the original ideas! I'm really liking where we are going so
far... just the scratch tracks sound sick!

"Jason and I seem to be off to a good start. The vibe is on and we are both
night owls so we're on the same wavelength... which is important if magic is to
be weaved!

"It's rather late (early?) so I better hit the sack as I expect an intense long
session [on Wednesday, March 3]. Ted [Aguilar; guitar] and Will [Carroll; drums]
arrive late [Tuesday night] and I plan to have all the scratch guitar tracks
recorded by Thursday evening when we begin tracking drums.

"Looking forward to a productive and enjoyable time making this record out
here."

DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda recently stated about the band's decision to
work with Suecof, "The new material is the most aggressive and technical music
we have written in years. So we needed a producer that was capable of unleashing
the tones that match and complement the overall vibe of the songs. With Jason's
experience in producing some of the most brutal contemporary metal artists and
albums of today, I know we made the right choice! I think the collaboration
between the two of us will prove to be venomous and infectious!"

DEATH ANGEL debuted two brand new songs â€" "River" and "Into The Arms Of
Righteous Anger" â€" during its appearance at last year's Speedfest, which was
held November 28, 2009 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The concert marked the
group's first appearance with bassist Damien Sisson (SCARECROW, POTENTIAL
THREAT) following the departure of Sammy Diosdado (THE SICK, ALL TIME HIGHS).

Fan-filmed video footage of the "Into The Arms" performance can be viewed below.

DEATH ANGEL's longtime drummer and original member Andrew Galeon left the band
in April 2009 and has since been replaced by Will Carroll, formerly of
SCARECROW, OLD GRANDAD and VICIOUS RUMORS.

Finnish battle metal masters TURISAS will embark on a three-date headlining tour of Australia at the end of May.

Commented TURISAS vocalist Mathias "Warlord" Nygård: "Fucking hell! It's finally happening.

"We've been asked to take the trip to the complete opposite side of the globe for a long time, but for a reason or another it's never been possible.

"I don't need to tell you how excited we are about finally making it. We've heard rumours about a strong following down there, so now it's time to show us what all that is about!

"We're taking a break from the studio and the recording of our forthcoming third album to spend less time in your country than it takes us to travel there, so the expectations are high. We, for our part, will most definitely be bringing you a show with all the extra energy piled up from a year off the road. We're hungry, we're determined, and we're ready. We sure hope you are too!"

The dates are as follows:

May 21 - Brisbane, Australia - The Globe Theatre
May 22 - Sydney, Australia - The Factory Theatre (All Ages)
May 23 - Melbourne, Australia - Billboard the Venue

TURISAS' third album is scheduled for release before the end of the year through Century Media Records.

Nygård and TURISAS were honored with the 2009 Culture Award by the Regional Council of Häme province. Since 1991, the award has been handed out annually to a person living and working in Häme region as a way to honor his/her achievements in the field of culture. The award was received by Mathias and guitarist Jussi Wickström on November 23, 2009. The Council mentioned that Nygård and the band represent "new kind of creativity in Häme" and that they "create new international culture by using old tradition."

An e-card for "A Finnish Summer With Turisas", the first-ever DVD from TURISAS, is available at this location.

In the summer of 2008, TURISAS set out to play more shows across its home country Finland than ever before. With "A Finnish Summer With Turisas", you can join them on their road trip, learn the secrets of sauna and other Finnish traditions on the nights when the sun never sets. Travel from festival to festival and go behind the scenes to find out what makes TURISAS a one-of-a-kind blend of music , traditions, fur, blood and fun.

According to TMZ.com, a warrant was issued for former WARRANT singer Jani Lane last week after he failed to show up to two court appearances connected to his 2009 DUI conviction.

Lane was scheduled to appear in court on February 23 to show the judge he's completed his alcohol classes and community service — but he never showed.

The court date was rescheduled for February 24... but Lane missed that one as well.

TMZ.com spoke to Lane's lawyer, who said the singer has been in the hospital and won't be able to make it to court until next week.

Last July, Lane pled no contest to one count of misdemeanor DUI stemming from an incident where he hit a parked car back in June 2009.

The 45-year-old singer was busted on June 17, 2009 when he allegedly hit a parked car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Lane refused to take a sobriety test.

When asked in a May 18, 2009 interview with "The Johnny Dare Morning Show" how he managed to "get straight," Jani replied, "It's just a matter of deciding you're done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, 'You know what? I'm done with this. I don't like feeling like this, I don't like living like this.' And it's also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you're unconscious."

Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".

WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).

Canadian metallers THREAT SIGNAL have issued the following update:

"We sincerely regret to inform you that our 2010 European tour dates with (HED) P.E. and ATILLA have been officially cancelled. The tour will still go on; however, we will not be performing on it.

"We had worked very hard to make this tour even considerably possible, but due to financial difficulties we've had to abandon ship. We're back thousands more dollars than we originally expected, and we've been struggling ever since to find affordable means of transportation. We cannot justify or even find the amount of money needed to make this tour possible for us anymore.

"Our hearts are broken [as] this would have been THREAT SIGNAL's first European tour .

"On the upside, we've had an amazing North American run with EPICA and BLACKGUARD and are looking forward to confirmed dates in Canada.

"The more people that show their support locally will ultimately help us land these tours overseas. Even if you can't make it out to a show, you can show your THREAT SIGNAL support by purchasing some new merchandise at Kill The 8 online merch store, and music from iTunes and Amazon.

"Once again, we apologize a million times over and over to our friends and fans in Europe who expected us on the tour. We're currently working extremely hard with our agents and record label to find another tour in Europe before the year is over.

"We promise to make this up to those who were looking forward to seeing us live.

"Thank you so much for understanding our situation."

THREAT SIGNAL's video for the song "Severed" can be viewed below. Edited by vocalist Jon Howard, the clip features live and behind-the-scenes footage from the band's summer 2009 tour with SYBREED, THE AGONIST and THE AUTUMN OFFERING.

"Severed" comes off THREAT SIGNAL's sophomore album, "Vigilance", which sold around 1,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 32 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

Released in September 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records, the CD was produced by vocalist Jon Howard and mixed by Greg Reely (FEAR FACTORY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY).

THREAT SIGNAL members Jon Howard and Pat Kavanagh (bass) are also involved with ARKAEA, the band featuring FEAR FACTORY members Raymond Herrera (drums) and Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar).

Drummer Chris Kontos (MACHINE HEAD, TESTAMENT) of the reunited San Francisco Bay Area hardcore/crossover/thrash metal band ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT has issued the following update:

"Back in 2007 ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT started doing gigs again.

"After I left SPIRALARMS for spinning the wheels for four years with overthinking it to death, I really started to work the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT thing again. Well, since then we have signed with TAANG! Records and they have released our first three LPs — 'American Paranoia' (1986), 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' (1988), 'Out Of Hand' (1991) — on CD for the first time on ONE disc. It been out on iTunes for months and doing REALLY well. It was released worldwide on January 19, 2010.

"We have been doing shows and writing music for the past three years now.

"The shows have been going really well, to say the least. On January 9, 2010, we played Slim's [in San Francisco] with D.R.I. and sold the place out (650 capacity). It was a killer show. [See video footage below.] Then we supported ANVIL at The Fillmore on February 6, 2010. Again, packed house! So now we are going to Europe in seven weeks to tour Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark...

"While in Denmark we are recording our new CD for TAANG! Records with super metal producer Tue Madsen (HALFORD, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, THE HAUNTED) along with KONKHRA's front man Anders Ludnmark at Starstruck Studios in Copenhagen from May 9 to May 16. Working title [for the album is] 'The Great Deceiver', with a hopeful release date of October 1, 2010. This will be the forth record for ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT.

"We are so honored to work with Tue and Anders on this CD. We have to bring our 'A' game, to say the least.

The lineup OG members are myself on drums, Kevin Reed on vocals, and Eric Mcintire on guitar. New guys are Greg Orr on bass and Yapple Ruelas on guitar.

"This is the most powerful stage of the game for us right now.

"We are ready to attack this tour as well as this recording in Denmark.

Altsounds.com recently conducted an interview with drummer Chris Adler of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

Altsounds.com: It was surprising to see in another interview you said that "Wrath" proved that you can still play the way you used to. Could you explain that more?

Chris: What I was trying to say in that was that we're all aware that we're not getting any younger and doing this kind of music relies heavily on endurance and being able to do what you do for an extended period of time, and continue to grow, to evolve and get better at what you do. To be able to push yourself, and on this record I felt that I had captured some of what was on our earlier albums that was missing on the last two. On the last two, I felt like as a drummer I created a voice and created a style that was very unique. You'd listen to those records and know it was me playing it, which is what I always admired about great drummers like Stewart Copeland and Billy Cotton. I kind of fell into that style on those records, but I didn't want to just rely on that, I wanted to keep pushing and get some of that more raw emotion from the earlier albums back into my playing, so that's what I was going after for "Wrath" and when I'd done tracking I felt I'd
accomplished that.

Altsounds.com: Did the longer gap since the last album affect "Wrath"?

Chris: Yeah, it definitely helped. When we first started getting together with the material, it ebbs and flows. We had a lot of stuff to start with but it wasn't the best stuff so the waiting process sort of rubs the rust off and the dust off and the songs kept getting better and better. We were writing literally until maybe three days before the drums started recording so it wasn't really a complete project until we were up against that deadline. We seem to work well under that kind of pressure. Some of the best songs are written last minute in "we need one more, now!" kind of moments. It doesn't hurt to have more time, but in the same breath, give yourself a couple of years and everybody gets kinda lazy about it. For us, for me anyway, it's better to have that something on the horizon to try and push yourself.

Altsounds.com: You're on tour until at least August, does it affect you knowing what you're doing so far in advance?

Chris: We're on tour until October actually. I think a lot of people would be lucky to have something to do until October, we're all fortunate that we still have this gig and that people still want to hear what we do and that we continue to travel and do it and not lose money. Does it bother me? Not at all. What bothers me is what happens when we're done with the touring, then I've got to sit at home. That isn't bad, I love my wife and my kids, I'm not trying to complain about that but I'm very motivated to be out here and playing, writing and doing that kind of thing. This is what I love about this job so it's hard to sit at home.

Altsounds.com: You're very accessible to your fans. Are you aware of how important the band is to young metal bands?

Chris: Not really. I guess I see a lot of young bands covering us on YouTube and it always makes me smile to think that somebody thought that much of us to cover our song. I hear it a lot in some of the younger bands that I speak with, like "ah man, you're the first metal band that I really go into." It's hard to really know that. While we're in it we're working to a model, trying to make things bigger and brighter for the band. It's hard to sit back and look at the whole big picture. Recently I have, I've been working with the younger bands and some of the guys were in middle school and just starting high school when they first started listening to us so now we've been around fifteen years we start to hear those kinds of stories. "I wasn't even born when your first album came out!" I mean, I guess we're getting old but it's nice to know, hearing those stories from people, that we've had a bit of an impact on metal music. Not that it was necessarily a
goal, but I'm very glad.

Altsounds.com: The band's sound hasn't really softened at all. Is that important?

Chris: It's important to me. I don't know if it's important to the overall project but I think when I was growing up listening to metal and when a band got a little bit of success their next album was just never the same as the one you like. Not even just metal bands, a lot of bands follow that route, they have that one successful hit and then the next album all sounds like that. We never really chased the idea of that kinda thing. For me personally, I would rather go out with a really aggressive catalogue than to have softened up at some point along the way and regret it. In the end, I'd rather be a mid-level success story. I'd rather stay there than shoot for something else because we're good at what we do, the fans that like us like us because we stick to it. There's really nothing broken in that equation so I don't want to try and fix it.
