[HeavyMetalHeaven] Download Festival News and Tons of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal News

The organizer of the U.K.'s annual Download festival has told Xfm that LED
ZEPPELIN were approached to headline this year's event. Andy Copping admitted
that having AC/DC and ZEPPELIN on the same bill would constitute his dream bill.

"If I could get LED ZEPPELIN to play at Download, it would be phenomenal," said
the festival chief. "If that's not going to happen, I'm more than happy with
what we've got."

"Every single festival in the world approaches LED ZEPPELIN or their management
to get them to pay at their festival. Loads of money gets thrown out. It's not
what they want to do at the moment and that's fine. They probably never will,
but everyone has a stab at it."

Legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne will appear on the "Jason Ellis Show"
tomorrow (Wednesday, March 24) on Sirius-XM Faction. Tune in to Faction (Sirius
28, XM 52) to hear Osbourne discuss his upcoming album and more with the popular
skateboarder-turned-radio-show-host. Both men are also scheduled to appear at
the Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 8 at Club Nokia in downtown Los
Angeles. Ozzy will present the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to JUDAS PRIEST
frontman Rob Halford and Ellis is nominated for this year's "Most Metal
Athlete."

Ozzy said that his upcoming album, the 10th solo studio effort of his career,
will not be called "Soul Sucka" as first reported. The Prince of Darkness told
RollingStone.com, "When we put that on the Internet none of my fan base liked
the title. They were like, 'I can't imagine me walking around the fucking house
with the words 'Soul Sucka' on my T-shirt.' So I was like, 'Fuck it. I've got to
come up with something else!'" No matter what it's called, Ozzy told The Pulse
of Radio what to expect. "It's very heavy. It's a cross between â€" it's kind of
like a SABBATH/Ozzy album, you know. It's kind of, it wasn't meant to, I didn't
plan on doing it but that's the way it unfolded. A lot of it's very, very heavy.
I just hope people like it. I love it."

The new set is due out in July, with a fresh title yet to be announced. Ozzy's
last solo project, "Black Rain", came out in 2007.

Ozzy also confirmed that Ozzfest will return this summer after taking a one-year
break but did not reveal whether it would be a one-shot affair like the 2008
edition or go back to its roots as a traveling event. He also plans to head out
on his own headlining arena tour next fall.

The new album and tour will introduce guitarist Gus G. Ozzy parted ways last
year with axeman Zakk Wylde, who has played on every Ozzy album and almost every
tour since 1988.

Ozzy Osbourne's long-awaited memoir, "I Am Ozzy", debuted at No. 2 on the New
York Times' hardcover non-fiction best-seller list. The book was published on
January 25 in the U.S., nearly two years after it was first expected to arrive.
"I Am Ozzy" chronicles the legendary metal icon's life from his working-class
beginnings in Birmingham, England to his initial fame with BLACK SABBATH to his
massive solo career and forays into television.

Drummer Simon Kirke is a founding member of two of the most legendary bands of his generation, FREE and BAD COMPANY. In an interview with "Long Live Rock" on Blog Talk Radio, he recalled the internal pressures that confronted FREE after the worldwide hit "All Right Now" rocketed the band to stardom. The group split within two years of that success.

"That was a monster hit for us, and it was a bit of a double-edged sword, really," the drummer recalled. "It kind of took its toll on us. We were suddenly public property, and Island Records wanted us to duplicate the success of 'All Right Now'. Suddenly we were under the spotlight, and we were under the gun to come up with another hit. We became our own worst enemies, I believe. We sort of crumbled under the pressure. There was no letup from that crazy merry-go-round."

Drugs played a role in the breakup. "There was quite a lot of ignorance in those days about drug addiction," Kirke said. "Nowadays if someone displays even the remotest fondness for drugs, they're shipped off to rehab very quickly. But [guitarist] Paul Kossoff got very strung out and became very ill, and the only way that he was dealt with was for the band to take a couple of weeks off and have him rest up. So it all got a little bit too much for us, and unfortunately we caved in under the pressure."

Kossoff died in 1976 at the age of twenty-five from drug-related heart problems. Kirke and FREE singer Paul Rodgers went on to form BAD COMPANY, releasing a string of hits throughout the Seventies and Eighties.

The career of FREE is chronicled in the new DVD release "Free Forever" from Eagle Rock Entertainment. The two-disc set includes early live footage of the band at the Beat Club in Germany, as well as material from FREE's performance at the legendary Isle of Wight festival. There are also special features, including interviews and multi-angle edits of the Isle of Wight footage.

Simon Kirke is set to tour in the U.K. with the reunited BAD COMPANY this summer.

"Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage", the long-awaited RUSH documentary produced by
Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn of Toronto, Ontario, Canada's Banger Films Inc., will
receive its Canadian premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary
Festival, which runs from April 29 to May 9 in Toronto, Ontario.

The film will be shown on the following dates/times:

* Thursday, April 29 at 9:30 p.m. at the Winter Garden Theatre
* Friday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. at the Isabel Bader Theatre

The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America's
largest documentary film festival, conference and market, held annually in
Toronto.

"Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage" will receive a red-carpet premier at the
Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Saturday, April 24. All three members
of RUSH â€" singer/bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil
Peart â€" will be on hand for the event.

For more information, go to this location.

Dunn and McFadyen were interviewed last year by Classic Rock magazine's Jerry
Ewing about the first-ever feature film documentary on Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson
and Neil Peart.

"Geddy had been in [Dunn and McFadyen's previous documentary] 'Metal: A
Headbanger's Journey' and we were thinking about other bands we could work
with," explained McFadyen. "We felt that RUSH had always been overlooked by the
critics so we met them on tour and they liked what we said. We started working
on it, then IRON MAIDEN came about so we took a break to do that and raised the
financing for the RUSH film. We've started on it now and done a load of
interviews so now we're editing with a load of archival footage."

"We've been lucky. Not only have we had access to [RUSH management] SRO's
archives but also Geddy, Alex and Neil's own personal archives," enthuses
director Dunn. "I was just at Geddy's house this week. Going through his
personal collection of memorabilia. I dug up some gems I don't think RUSH fans
have ever seen so we're hoping to offer something new."

As RUSH fans themselves, Dunn admitted this made him feel like a kid let loose
in a candy store.

"Well, Geddy's definitely the premier band archivist," Dunn said. "He has a
massive collection of photographs and clippings. We even got our hands on Neil's
handwritten lyric sheets from back when they were making 'Fly By Night', '2112'
and 'A Farewell To Kings', and I don't think they've ever been seen before."

According to Motorcycle Cruiser, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford will ride a
customized Harley-Davidson Cross Bones onto the stage to accept the Revolver
Golden God Award from Ozzy Osbourne at the second annual Revolver Golden Gods
Awards, which will be held Thursday, April 8 at Club Nokia in downtown Los
Angeles. The show will be televised on VH1 Classic on Saturday, May 22.

The Revolver Golden God Award is given to one special honoree a year who
embodies all that is metal.

This year, hosting duties for the Golden Gods will be shared between musician,
activist and entrepreneur Andrew W.K. and professional wrestler, actor, author
and metal fan Chris Jericho.

Fans everywhere can cast their vote beginning to choose who will take home the
awards for "Best Guitarist," "Best Drummer," "Best Vocalist," "Album of the
Year," "Best Live Band," "Best Underground Band," "Most Metal Athlete," "Hottest
Chick(s) in Metal" and "Comeback Of The Year." You can vote at
www.revolvermag.com/goldengods until Wednesday, March 31.

CHAINS, KASABIAN, PHOENIX, SKUNK ANANSIE, PEARL JAM, LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, GOGOL

Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine, Matthias Jabs, James Kottak and Pawel Maciwoda of
the SCORPIONS will be inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk on Tuesday, April 6,
2010 at noon. The SCORPIONS â€" who have sold over 100 million records worldwide
â€" will be honored by fans with a special ceremony at Guitar Center in
Hollywood.

This marks a very special occasion for the SCORPIONS: with the March 23 release
of their new album, "Sting in the Tail" (via Universal Music Enterprises) and a
three-year, five-continent mammoth tour, one of the most successful rock bands
in the world will be ending their career. It will be the most adventurous if not
greatest project of the band: hundreds of shows, hundreds of thousands of fans,
countless miles on a plane and tour bus.

It has been 35 years since the original formation of the legendary German hard
rock band SCORPIONS drove their rickety red VW bus from one small pub to
another, from one back yard to another, in their home state of Lower-Saxony to
unpack their equipment and rock on. Five years earlier, in the little town of
Sarstedt, Rudolf Schenker had given the band its name. From the very beginning
the band showed signs for a promising career.

From an Echo for "Life Achievement" (2009) and "Best National Band" (1994) to
the World Music Award (1994), there aren't many noteworthy awards the SCORPIONS
have not received. The accomplishments throughout their career have built a
bridge between yesterday and tomorrow: they drew more than 150,000 spectators
between Manaus and Rio on the last big South America tour, sold-out stadiums in
Greece last summer, jam-packed venues in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Mumbai
and performed at Monsters Of Rock.

Hollywood's RockWalk is the only sidewalk gallery dedicated to honoring those
artists who have made a significant impact and lasting contribution to the
growth and evolution of rock and roll, blues and R&B. The SCORPIONS' handprints
will reside alongside the handprints, signatures, and faces of other equally
accomplished musicians and innovators such as Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana,
Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Marvin
Gaye, James Brown, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, John Lee Hooker and EARTH WIND &
FIRE, among numerous others.

The long-awaited documentary on British rock legends SAXON, "Heavy Metal Thunder
- The Movie", will finally be released next month. The delay was caused by the
filmmakers' (U.K.'s Coolhead Productions) desire to include newly discovered
vintage footage and additional interviews.

Commented Coolhead: "There's no doubt in our minds that when you sit down to
watch the film, and all of the amazing extras we've crammed in (over six hours
worth of material, with even more stuff which we're planning to make available
online to purchasers), you'll agree it's been worth the wait."

The final list of the DVD contents:

* Heavy Metal Thunder - The Movie
* SAXON Live in Germany in 1981
* St George's Day concert 2008
* The Eagle & The Bomber â€" on tour with MOTÖRHEAD, '79 - '09
* On A Crusade â€" Archive interviews from recording "Crusader"
* No Excuses - Archive footage from the "Innocence Is No Excuse" recording
sessions
* Building The Labyrinth â€" Recording "Into The Labyrinth"

Commented SAXON frontman Biff Byford: "We're being featured in next month's
Classic Rock magazine. We're part of a feature on rock documentaries, and a
specially edited 15-minute segment of the film is being included on a free DVD
given away with the magazine. It tells the tale of SAXON's first tour with
MOTÖRHEAD in 1979 and is very entertaining. It's slightly different to the
version on the actual DVD because we were only allowed to use two music tracks
on the Classic Rock segment (there's loads of music on the full DVD version)."

Produced by the makers of the critically acclaimed "Ian Gillan: Highway Star"
(Universal, 2007), "Heavy Metal Thunder - The Movie" celebrates SAXON's 30th
anniversary. It not only has contributions from members of SAXON, past and
present, but also from the likes of Lars Ulrich (METALLICA); Lemmy, "Fast" Eddie
Clarke, Phil Campbell, Mikkey Dee (MOTÖRHEAD); Harvey Goldsmith, Danko Jones,
Doro Pesch and many, many others.

Slash has unveiled the lineup of his touring band, which will take to the road
this spring in support of Slash's self-titled debut solo album. Joining
previously announced vocalist Myles Kennedy from ALTER BRIDGE will be rhythm
guitarist Bobby Schneck, who's toured with WEEZER and GREEN DAY, ALICE COOPER
and VINCE NEIL drummer Brent Fitz, and BIG WRECK bass player Dave Henning.

Slash told The Pulse of Radio that he's really pleased to have Kennedy singing
on the tour. "He was one of these sort of youngish rock singers that I wasn't
real familiar with, who is probably one of the best, you know, young new rock
'n' roll singers around," he said. "There's actually two songs on the record
that he did, and he can basically perform any other songs on the record, plus he
knows how to do all the GUNS N' ROSES stuff. So it's worked out nicely."

Slash's solo album is due out on April 6.

The first single from the set, called "By The Sword", features vocals from
WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockdale.

The guitarist uses a different guest vocalist on each track, including Fergie,
M. Shadows, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Lemmy Kilmister, Iggy Pop and
others.

One of the greatest rock stars of our time is celebrating the release of his new album in true rock star fashion — by dominating the late night scene, late night television that is. Iconic musician Slash is known for trailblazing guitar work and the innovative, hard-rocking sounds of his new album will be showcased in a series of unique performances slated for release of his first true solo album. Featuring an all-star roster of guest musicians, "Slash" will be available April 6, 2010.

Anticipation has been building for the album since the recent release of the first single, "By The Sword", featuring Andrew Stockdale of WOLFMOTHER, which is currently in rotation at rock radio. To kick of his album release, Slash will be the featured performer at Revolver Golden Gods Awards, with several of his album collaborators making special guest appearances. Slash will also make a series of late-night performances with talk show hosts Jay Leno, George Lopez and Craig Ferguson.

Slash TV dates to watch (check local listings):

* Tuesday, April 6 - "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (NBC)
* Thursday, April 8 - "Lopez Tonight" with George Lopez (TBS)
* Thursday, April 8 - Revolver Golden Gods Awards ceremony from Hollywood (airs May 22 on VH1)
* Friday, April 8 - "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (CBS)

Slash will also be featured in two upcoming promotions with Monster Energy and Guitar Center:

Monster Energy Presents the Ultimate Slash Experience — Visit MonsterEnergy.com on April 1 and learn how you can attend a private concert with Slash and be part of the exclusive backstage meet-and-greet. Some winners will also receive a limited edition "Gibson Appetite Les Paul" guitar, as well as other exclusive prizes. Fans are also encouraged to check their local retailers beginning on April 1 for the limited-edition Slash/Monster Energy multi-packs. The multi-pack will offer fans a bonus track not included on the album, plus additional music, downloads, and other exclusive content.

As part of the album release, Slash has partnered with Guitar Center on Guitar Center Presents Your Next Record with Slash. This is a first-of-its-kind, unsigned band competition that provides emerging artists the chance to win the ultimate career-altering opportunity: record a three-song EP with legendary producer Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, MÖTLEY CRÜE, MEGADETH) and have Slash write, record and perform on the winning artists' single. Now through April 30, 2010 bands across the United States are invited to submit their music for a chance to win the aforementioned prize package, which also includes: A management development deal with The Collective (LINKIN PARK, SLASH, AVENGED SEVENFOLD); Feature of winning artists' single on iTunes; worldwide distribution of winning artists' music through Tunecore; $10,000 Guitar Center shopping spree; New gear and endorsement deals from Ernie Ball Music Man; An opening slot on Slash's Monster Energy Bash; An
editorial feature on the winning band in Guitar World magazine.

Live-Metal.net conducted an interview with MEGADETH guitarist Chris Broderick at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the band's ill-fated March 16, 2010 show that ended after just three songs. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

Live-Metal.net: Does it feel at all strange doing an anniversary tour for an album ["Rust In Peace"] that you didn't have any part in making?

Chris Broderick: I think if you step back, you can take that view with it. But no. I go in and I do my job. I look at what I have to play and try to do the original composer as much justice as possible. That's really my view on it. I try to present it as well as I can.

Live-Metal.net: Especially with this "Rust In Peace" tour and now with [bassist David] Ellefson back in the band, fans are always clamoring for the "Rust In Peace" lineup. Do any of these things bother you?

Chris Broderick: No. I can totally understand why people would want the original lineup back in the band, because it's kind of what they grew up with. When they think of "Rust In Peace", they think of that lineup of people. But in my mind, what is the original? Because it's gone through so many incarnations, and in a way, I think it could potentially have been some of the rebirth of MEGADETH in the first place, because each person — no matter how big or how little of a part they may have in the writing of a CD or something like that — you kind of put your fingerprint on it and you kind of give it your own little style. I know for the "Rust In Peace" thing, it's Marty's [Friedman, ex-MEGADETH guitarist] CD. But if you look at the full course of MEGADETH, you can't just see one guitarist in there.

Live-Metal.net: How did Ellefson rejoining the band affect you, personally and musically?

Chris Broderick: Well, to tell you the truth, I know [former bassist] James [Lomenzo] really well. He's a great bass player, a good guy. But when Ellefson came in, for me it was so quick. He stepped in and just started playing the songs, and it was just like when I joined. It was, "OK, let's get down to work." So we did. We just started hunkering down and playing the songs, and since then I've gotten to know Dave and he's a great guy, as well. For me, it's just one more great musician I've gotten to play with now. It's awesome.

Live-Metal.net: How much rehearsal was involved for the "Rust In Peace" album and which songs were the hardest to learn?

Chris Broderick: The amazing thing is, we had a lot of rehearsal time for this tour, and that's never happened before. Even when I joined, I was rehearsing the songs a lot, but when it came to the full band getting together, it was like one or two days. With this tour, I think we were together probably for a little over two weeks — something like that, somewhere along those lines. As far as the difficulty of the different songs, I'd have to say when I originally learned the first five songs that I know off of "Rust in Peace", like "Tornado of Souls" and "Holy Wars", as being the most difficult because one, I had no experience with Marty Friedman's playing, and two, it was so under the gun — I had so much more material to get down. Now that I've had time to experience his playing and see what he's like, to go back and learn "Poison Was the Cure" and "Lucretia", and just kind of relax with those solos, they're fun. They're just fun to play. I love
"Lucretia". It's probably my favorite solo to play right now.

MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil's March 26, 2010 appearance at Woodstock Plaza
in Monterrey, Mexico has been cancelled due to recent violence plaguing the
nation. The show's promoter, Gabe Reed, says in a statement, "After a lengthy
evaluation, we determined that the present security situation in Monterrey was
unstable and decided it was not worth putting anyone at risk. We hope to bring
Vince to Mexico in the near future when the situation improves."

Vince Neil and his solo band recently completed a successful South American tour
with a sold-out appearance in Sao Paulo, Brazil on February 27. The trek
included four concerts in four countries in as many days and included additional
shows in Santiago, Chile; Santa Cruz, Bolivia; and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Reed
commented that "the response by the fans to this tour was amazing. We had sold
out shows at each stop and Vince was in great form."

Neil's new solo album, "Tattoos & Tequila", will be released on June 22 via
Eleven Seven Music. The CD was recorded with bassist Dana Strum and Jeff Blando
(both of SLAUGHTER) and drummer Zoltan Chaney. At least two cover tracks were
reportedly laid down during the sessions â€" CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's
"Who'll Stop The Rain?" and SEX PISTOLS' "No Feelings".

The "Tattoos & Tequila" title track, which was was written and produced by Marti
Frederiksen (AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, OZZY OSBOURNE), and the accompanying video
are available for free download at www.vinceneil.net. You can also use the
widget below.

In a recent interview with The News Tribune, Vince stated about the upcoming
CD's title, "It's rock 'n' roll. That's it. It has nothing to do with MÖTLEY
CRÃœE. Tattoos and tequila is basically my life."

Vince told Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun last week that his voice is in great
shape as he approaches his 50th birthday, and although the CRÃœE is not touring
again until early summer, he will be on the road with his solo band until then.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Neil is also writing a book akin to
MÖTLEY's autobiography, "The Dirt", with Esquire writer Mike Sager.

UNISONIC, the new band featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske alongside Dennis Ward (bass) and Kosta Zafiriou (drums) of Germany's PINK CREAM 69 and Swiss guitarist Mandy Meyer (who has previously played with ASIA, GOTTHARD and KROKUS), has added three more dates to its upcoming tour and as a warm-up for the group's appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival.

The band's schedule is now as follows:

June 05 - Live Music Hall, Mörlenbach - Weier, Germany
June 06 - Sonnenkeller - Balingen, Germany
June 10 - Fabrik - Bruchsal, Germany
June 11-12 - Sweden Rock Festival - Sölvesborg, Sweden

UNISONIC marks the first time Kiske has been involved in a real band situation in almost 16 years. Having split with HELLOWEEN in late 1993, he participated in various projects and released several solo albums but had not been part of a real group effort until now.

While collaborating with Ward and Zafiriou on the PLACE VENDOME project four years ago, Kiske found two musical soulmates. They ended up recording two PLACE VENDOME albums before deciding to join forces in a new brand new band. Ward, who had previously produced a record for KROKUS, suggested Meyer as the perfect addition to the group in the vacant guitarist slot.

Sharing the vision of a rock band free of any musical limitations, the quartet has already started writing songs for its debut album, which is scheduled for release in late 2010. An EP may precede the full-length effort in the spring.

Kiske, one of the finest and most unique voices in contemporary rock music, explains his motivation of becoming a part of a band again: "Since the PLACE VENDOME productions I was impressed by Dennis Ward's skills as a songwriter and producer. We were occasionally fooling around since then via email that we should do more together in the future, so the idea came up to do a new band. I was generally getting a bit tired of doing everything on my own for so many years, so it just felt like the right thing to do now. We can all only benefit from working together. No matter how good you are solo, four people will always be better than one, I think, if they manage to function together. And a real band is also a very good reason to finally go on tour again. After 17 years, I can't wait to get back on stage and have some fun with the band and the fans!"

UNISONIC is expected to perform a number of original songs as well as tracks from PLACE VENDOME and reworked versions of HELLOWEEN classics like "Kids Of The Century" and "A Little Time", both of which were included on Kiske's "Past In Different Ways" album.

German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have been forced to cancel their appearance
at the Wacken Open Air festival "due to an important private appointment."
Organizers say that the band will "try to make up for Wacken Open Air 2011."

This year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival is scheduled to take place
August 5-7 in Wacken, Germany.

As previously reported, singer Pamela Moore â€" who is best known for her
performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation:
Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II" â€" will perform with
PRIMAL FEAR as a special guest at all shows on their "The Fear Is Here" North
American tour. Pamela will also host special meet-and-greet/soundcheck parties
at select venues.

For a list of dates, visit PRIMAL FEAR's MySpace page.

PRIMAL FEAR is currently putting together a new DVD, "16.6 â€" All Over The
World", to be released in June via Frontiers Records. The bulk of the set will
be composed of footage from the 2009 concerts in Switzerland and Atlanta,
Georgia, with additional material from Japan, Colombia, Brazil, Germany and
Sweden. The band says, "[We] still [have] a long way to go [before completing
the DVD], but it will be a killer package, including the first official live CD
of PRIMAL FEAR, 'Live In The USA', recorded in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New
York." The group adds, "Achim Köhler is already working on the mix of the audio
stuff." A European tour in support of the new DVD and live DVD will take place
in the fall.

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)", the new album from PRIMAL FEAR, was
released in Europe on May 22, 2009 and was made available in the U.S. in early
June 2009 via Frontiers Records.

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)" was recorded at House Of Music
studios in Winterbach, Germany with Dennis Ward and Achim Köhler. The CD marks
the group's first release with Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN/LANDE, STARBREAKER), who
replaced Stefan Leibing last year. Returning guitarist Henny Wolter and Karlsson
participated in the songwriting and pre-production, which took place at
Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studio in Sweden. The band spent four weeks at House Of
Music recording the effort, which was mastered by Ted Jensen at the Sterling
Sound in New York City.

The Art Of Malice", the new album from ROB ZOMBIEex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist
John 5, will be released on May 11. A track from the CD, "The Nightmare
Unravels", is available for streaming below. The cover artwork, courtesy of Ray
Gutierrez, is also available.

As previously reported, John 5 will appear at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles
on March 31 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. PST. Afterwards he will take part in a
signing session.

Reservation seating for the first few rows of this event is available on a
first-come-first-served basis.

If you would like to make a reservation, please send an email to
john5store@hotmail.com and in the subject field put "Reserve Seats." You can
reserve 1-2 tickets. These are limited, so hurry up!

The Grammy Museum is located at 800 Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, California.

For more information, visit www.grammymuseum.org.

John 5 has compiled one of the most impressive resumes in rock. In addition to
his own solo work, his commanding riffs combined with his composition skills
have most recently earned him a coveted spot playing with rock icon Rob Zombie.

John 5's credentials include his famous stint with shock rocker MARILYN MANSON
and his current gig with ROB ZOMBIE, but also includes diverse work with some
names you might not expect, including Lita Ford, K.D. Lang, David Lee Roth, Meat
Loaf, SALT-N-PEPA, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and many others. Surprisingly to many, John 5
has an ardent love of bluegrass music and has the chops to prove it (just listen
to "Sugar Foot Rag" from 2004 solo album "Vertigo"). Furthermore, he is a
self-described "Fender fanatic" with a jaw-dropping collection of his favorite
instrument, the Telecaster ("the greatest guitars ever built, by far, hands
down," he said). Such is his love for the instrument that Fender introduced the
J5 Telecaster (and J5 Special Edition acoustic) in 2004 and the J5 Triple Tele
Deluxe in 2007.

John 5 in 2008 released the IMV "Behind the Player" DVD in which he gives an
intimate behind-the scenes look at his life as a professional musician,
including rare photos and video footage. John 5 then gives in-depth lessons for
how to play "Let it All Bleed Out" and "Lords of Salem" by ROB ZOMBIE on guitar
and jams the tracks with ROB ZOMBIE drummer Tommy Clufetos.

John 5 issued his fourth solo album, "Requiem", on June 3, 2008 via 60 Cycle
Hum. John 5 performs all instruments with the exception of the time-keeping by
Zombie bandmate Tommy Clufetos (drums). The album was recorded in the middle of
night that lent a cool vibe and only time John 5 had studio times. Most of the
songs are 12-13 minutes long so John 5 decided to put in markers to divide them
up so when songs change from track to track it seems to meld in to each other.

Italian progressive-aggressive metal band ELDRITCH will enter the studio in
April to begin recording its eighth album for a tentative late 2010 release via
Diversity Media/LMP. According to the group, "The title [of the new CD] will
probably be 'Gaia's Legacy' and it will mark the return to the early era of the
band with a modern sound. For this purpose the band announces Fab 'Shiver'
Muratori [NHORIZON] at the keyboards."

ELDRITCH's "Livequake" CD/DVD was released in November 2008 via Diversity
Media/LMP. The disc was recorded in March 2008 at Music Street Club in Lugnano,
Pisa, Italy. The two-hour show was split into two equal parts: the first portion
featuring songs from 2001's "Reverse" album and subsequent releases; and the
second half containing material from the first three LPs, with all the keyboard
parts played by former ELDRITCH keyboardist Oleg Smirnoff.

ELDRITCH parted ways with guitarist Rob "Pek" Proietti in October 2009 and
replaced him with Rudj Ginanneschi.

ELDRITCH 2010 is:

Terence Holler - Vocals
Eugene Simone - Lead and Rhythm Guitar
Rudj Ginanneschi - Rhythm Guitar
John Crystal - Bass
Raffahell Dridge - Drums
Fab "Shiver" Muratori - Keyboards

ELDRITCH released its seventh album, "Blackenday", in April 2007 via Inside Out
Music. The CD features guest appearances by Ray Alder (FATES WARNING,
REDEMPTION, ENGINE) and Nicholas Van Dyk (REDEMPTION) on the song "Broken Road".
On all the other tracks you can hear Laura Scappini (IN MEMORY) doing the backup
vocals. The CD was mixed by R.D. Liapakis at Music Factory studios in Germany
and was mastered by Christian Schmid. A video for the song "The Blackened Day"
was shot in February 2007 with director Mirco Andreis.

ELDRITCH made its U.S. live debut at the Chicago Powerfest 2006

AGAINST THE PLAGUES, the multinational extreme-metal act featuring members of LOST HORIZON, LUCIFERION, MALEVOLENT CREATION and VEX, has parted ways with guitarist Adrian Adamus (FOREST OF IMPALED, CORPHAGY). According to the band, Adrian left AGAINST THE PLAGUES "in order to focus on his personal/family life."

Going forward, second-guitar duties in AGAINST THE PLAGUES will be handled by Marco Martell (MALEVOLENT CREATION, DIVINE EMPIRE, KULT OF AZAZEL), who previously played bass for the group. The band says, "Marco is an accomplished guitarist with the versatility, speed, and skill that the 'AGAINST THE PLAGUES style' demands."

AGAINST THE PLAGUES is putting the finishing touches on a video for the song "Great Are The Eyed". The clip was filmed in February in Miami with directors Eduardo and Gregg Alvarez from Elephas Productions. The song comes off AGAINST THE PLAGUES' new album, "Decoding the Mainframe", which will be released in Europe in April 2010 via Vic Records.

"Decoding The Mainframe" contains re-recorded versions of all eight songs from AGAINST THE PLAGUES' self-released CD, "Architecture of Oppression". The tracks were remastered and mixed by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, AEON, DISSECTION, KATATONIA, MARDUK).

Commented AGAINST THE PLAGUES co-founder Varyen Chylinsky: "We decided to improve the sound with slightly modified arrangements of the songs, along with mixing and mastering… For now, I would say — this is our first 'official ' product that sounds as a high-quality world class album should sound! Of course we've added several new things to make this release a bit more special. We've improved album cover and the whole CD layout; plus we have added more new pictures of the band along with a few other new bonuses…"

Originally released in 2007, "Architecture of Oppression" was recorded at Studio One with Chris Djuricic (NOVEMBERS DOOM, NACHTMYSTIUM, GORGASM, FOREST OF IMPALED) and was mastered by Daniel Fossum at Sounds Elevator Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden.

AGAINST THE PLAGUES features in its ranks Wojtek Lisicki (LOST HORIZON, LUCIFERION) on guitar, Varyen Chylinski (DAMNATION, FOREST OF IMPALED) on drums, Orlando "Logan" Perez (VEX) on vocals and Marco Martell (MALEVOLENT CREATION, DIVINE EMPIRE, KULT OF AZAZEL) on guitar.

Epitaph Records has announced the signing of the San Francisco-based punk rock group HEARTSOUNDS.

Formed out of the ashes of the now-defunct melodic death-metal band LIGHT THIS CITY, HEARTSOUNDS consists of founding members Laura Nichol (guitar, vocals) and Ben Murray (guitar, vocals) who after growing tired of banging heads decided to return to their true love...punk rock.

"Laura and I have always been first and foremost, punk rock kids as well as intensely dedicated fans of the genre," says Murray. "From the time before LIGHT THIS CITY started, our favorite bands were BAD RELIGION, STRUNG OUT, GOOD RIDDANCE, etc. It is actually the precision and technical proficiency of those kinds of bands that inspired us to push our abilities even further into the metal genre. However, upon getting burnt out playing such heavy music, we decided to return to our roots and finally write a punk record!"

Blending the speed and precision of heavy-metal influenced punk rock like STRUNG OUT and PROPAGANDHI, with the more melodic and mid-tempo sensibilities of HOT WATER MUSIC and BAD RELIGION, HEARTSOUNDS' music is a throwback to '90s punk rock and '80s thrash metal updated with a style all their own.

Epitaph owner and president Brett Gurewitz took notice of the band in late 2009 and immediately expressed interest in signing the band.

"Epitaph has always been one of our favorite labels, going as far back as to when Laura and I were 13 years old," Murray adds. "That being said, when Brett Gurewitz emailed us one day expressing interest in HEARTSOUNDS, we knew right away that we were the luckiest band on earth! From there, we flew down to L.A. to meet with everyone at the office, and were treated incredibly well.

"Everyone at the label is so impressive with their respective positions, and most importantly, they seemed to be genuine fans of their bands! That experience only further solidified our feeling that Epitaph would be the absolute perfect match for HEARTSOUNDS.

"With such an impressive roster of artists, both past and present, as well as years of experience creating the punk rock sound that directly influenced our musical formation, we couldn't ask for a better home!"

HEARTSOUNDS is scheduled to open for punk legends and labelmates BAD RELIGION at House of Blues in West Hollywood, California, on March 25 and House of Blues in Anaheim, California on April 2.

Slaughterhouse Promotions and Anglo-Chilean thrash masters CRIMINAL have agreed
to donate all profits from the band's May 22 London headlining show to the
charity Un Techo para Chile ("A Roof for Chile").

Un Techo para Chile provides housing â€" both temporary and definitive â€" to
families in need and is one of the main organizations channelling the help to
the victims of the massive earthquake that shook Chile on February 27.

Comments CRIMINAL vocalist/guitarist Anton Reisenegger: "I grew up in Chile so I
am quite used to earthquakes, but this one was much worse than anything I ever
had to experience.

"I was really shocked when I saw the pictures; the degree of devastation is
overwhelming.

"I am really grateful to Slaughterhouse Promotions for giving us the chance to
help by donating all proceeds from our London show to a respectable and
transparent charity organization like Un Techo para Chile. What better way to
help than doing what we do best: playing metal for our friends and fans!"

The event will take place at the Purple Turtle in Camden on Saturday, May 22.
Also appearing on the bill will be France's INFEST and the U.K.'s TRIFIXION
(formerly known as DITCHCREEPER) and NEBUKADNEZZA.

CRIMINAL has just released a new music video for the song "Incubus". The clip,
which can be viewed below, was directed and edited by renowned Chilean visual
artist Carlos Toro, who has previously worked with KREATOR, VADER, LACRIMOSA and
MERCENARY, among others.

"Incubus" comes off CRIMINAL's latest album, "White Hell", which was released in
February 2009 by Germany's Massacre Records. The CD is being widely hailed as
the band's finest record to date.

CRIMINAL recently supported METALLICA in Chile in front of over 55,000 raging
metalheads.

Legendary cult metal thrashers TOXIK return and are on the big screen, for one
night only!

Hudson Horror Show Inc., in association with Grindhouse Releasing, proudly
presents a one-night-only horror film festival on May 22, 2010 at the Silver
Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Hudson Horror Show festival
will be highlighted by an appearance of one metal's most revered cult metal
acts, TOXIK.

Hailing from New York's Hudson Valley area, TOXIK released a pair of classic
thinking-man's thrash metal albums in the late '80s. An upstart record label
named Roadrunner Records (later home to SLIPKNOT and NICKELBACK) released the
band's two astounding masterworks, 1988's "World Circus" and 1989's "Think
This". Both releases saw TOXIK take the aggression and brutality of speed metal
and mix it with the technicality and proficiency of progressive hard rock.

TOXIK left the Hudson Valley region and toured the United States and the world,
playing shows with the likes of PANTERA, SEPULTURA, EXODUS, KING DIAMOND and
others in their quest for metal ascendancy before their premature implosion in
1992.

After decades apart, TOXIK has assembled rare video footage of those classic
years for its first-ever officially released DVD, "Toxik - Think Again", which
will have an exclusive extended preview at Hudson Horror Show. TOXIK members
Josh Christian (guitar), Tad Leger (drums) and Mike Sanders (vocals) are all
tentatively scheduled to appear at the event.

The festival kicks off at approximately 12 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on May
22, 2010.

The screening will be held at Silver Cinemas South Hills 8, located at 1895
South Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Advance tickets are on sale now and are $26.00. There are only 150 tickets
available, so it is recommended that you buy your tickets in advance. If tickets
remain, they will be available at the show for $30.00 each. Pay one price and
come and go during the show as much as you want.

For tickets or more information, go to www.hudsonhorror.com or contact
info@hudsonhorror.com.

"Purgatory Unleashed - Live at Wacken", a live album of Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES' 2008 Wacken Open Air performance, will be released in North America on May 4 via Earache Records.

Available now in Europe, "Purgatory Unleashed - Live at Wacken" is the first official new audio release from AT THE GATES since the band's 1995 album, "Slaughter Of The Soul", and features 18 live tracks of classic AT THE GATES songs from the band's legendary performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany in 2008. Mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, VADER, WINDS OF PLAGUE), "Purgatory Unleashed" sees AT THE GATES in possibly its best form yet and bowing out at the top of its game.

The limited-edition first pressing of the "Purgatory Unleashed - Live at Wacken" CD includes a free AT THE GATES woven patch, plus a free bandmember signature guitar plectrum, and comes housed in a special slipcase. The album is also available on limited-edition double vinyl LP, which comes housed in a gatefold sleeve and includes a free AT THE GATES poster.

The vinyl version is available in the following, strictly limited colours:

* Yellow vinyl - 200 copies
* Light blue vinyl - 300 copies
* Black vinyl - 1,400 copies

Candlelight Records has announced the signing of OCTOBER TIDE to a worldwide deal. The band — featuring guitarist Fredrik Norrman, vocalist Tobias Netzell, drummer Robin Bergh, and session bassist Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE) — is putting the finishing touches on its as-yet-untitled new album for an early fall release. The first new recording from the band in over ten years, it follows recent reissue of the group's acclaimed debut, "Rain Without End".

Formed in 1995 by then-KATATONIA guitarist Norrman and KATATONIA/BLOODBATH vocalist Jonas Renkse, OCTOBER TIDE quickly made a mark with two albums recorded and released during the years 1997 and 1999. Much of the band's music was written during a short break up of KATATONIA which later proved only temporary as the band would reform and continues today; their latest album, "Night of the New Day", features work by Norrman. OCTOBER TIDE would not perform live during this short period of activity and few interviews with the members were granted despite praise from both media and fans. The band, until reforming in late 2009, would maintain a cult status throughout the doom/metal community.

Setting out on a campaign to destroy the sun and all of its followers, ISTAPP is currently preparing to unleash the band's Metal Blade Records debut, "Blekinge", on June 8 in the U.S. and Canada.

"Blekinge" comes from the adjective bleke that corresponds to the nautical term for "dead calm," but ISTAPP's forthcoming album is anything but.

"We are confident that the piece of deadly art about to strike down on you all will be the first really true metal-album ever to be released to this world," comments the band.

Cover art was handled by none other than C. Ashuck von Renvaktar.

"Out of his memories Lord Ashuck himself created a picture of 'Blekinge' and its oak, fore-saying the inevitable path this world must wander. It will certainly hurt the eyes of many a sun-worshiper who dare to look upon it," the band states.

DISBELIEF's latest album, "Protected Hell", was released in April 2009 via Massacre Records. The LP, which was recorded at MX studio in Buchen, Germany with producer Michael Mainx, was made available as a limited-edition digipack and regular jewel case CD.

DISBELIEF's previous CD, "Navigator", was released in February 2007 via Massacre Records.

Florida's INFERNAEON is preparing to enter SafeHouse Production with guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy (TESTAMENT, OBITUARY, DEATH) to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release via Prosthetic Records.

In other news, the band has announced the addition of guitarists Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger and bassist Mike Poggione to the group's ranks.

Commented frontman Brian Werner: "It is a real breath of fresh air getting these three in the band. Taylor and Steve are both young, 18 and 19, and hungry and their talent and work ethic are second to none. We've accomplished more in three months than I'd ever been able to accomplish in a year before!

"I spent time with Mike Poggione in MONSTROSITY and he's really helping us out in our bass player's absence. Also our drummer, Jeramie Kling (THE ABSENCE), has really stepped up his game, and in my opinion he could be the next Derek Roddy or Tim Yeung. He has really come into his own as a drummer and it's an honor to still be working with him. The end result is an absolutely amazing sounding album one that I'm proud to be a part of."

INFERNAEON has posted behind-the-scenes footage of some of the insanity which went on during the writing process for the new album at Werner's home on a 30-acre compound in central Florida. Check out the clip below.

INFERNAEON's last CD, "A Symphony of Suffering", came out in March 2007 on Prosthetic.

Florida death metal veterans MALEVOLENT CREATION will enter Mana Recording Studios (CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE) in St. Petersburg, Florida on April 5 with producer Erik Rutan (MORBID ANGEL, HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE) to begin recording their new album for a late 2010 release via Nuclear Blast Records. The band has also just signed a management deal with Extreme Management Group (SUFFOCATION, ORIGIN).

Commented the group: "After over 20 years in existence, and now having the most solid lineup in years, we really wanted to make sure that with this new album we elevated the band in every way. Getting good management was crucial and Extreme Management Group has a great track record.

"Erik had been talking to us since 'Doomsday X' to record us, and with Gus Rios (drums) being the band full-time now, we didn't want him to have the responsibility of producing the album as well as writing and playing. Erik really understands what we are about, and has all of the same thoughts about recording as us. It really couldn't be a better working situation.

"We've said it before, but this album really is without a doubt is the most relentless, focused and brutal MALEVOLENT CREATION album ever! We really went back to our roots, not only as a band, but as fans of metal. We wrote an album of songs that we as fans of brutal music would want to hear."

Crash Music released a limited-edition digipack from MALEVOLENT CREATION entitled "Essentials" in February 2009. The package features 38 tracks on three discs, with over 110 minutes of "pure brutality."

MALEVOLENT CREATION's "Lost Commandments" DVD was released in August 2008 in Europe via Massacre Records. The one-hour, 45-minute disc features two complete shows from the band — Party.San Open Air festival (August 9-11, 2007 in Bad Berka, Germany) and Paris, France (2004).

MALEVOLENT CREATION's latest album, "Doomsday X", was released in the U.S. in July 2007 via Nuclear Blast Records and in Europe in August 2007 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded and engineered at Mercury Recording Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida by longtime friend and producer (and sometimes session member) Gus Rios, and is said to be the most diverse MALEVOLENT CREATION album recorded to date and "without a doubt their fastest!!" Mick Thomson, guitarist for SLIPKNOT, contributed a "ripping" guitar solo to the song "Deliver My Enemy"

Eulogy Recordings has announced the signing of Connecticut's HATE YOUR GUTS. The band's new album, "Bastard's Disease", will be released this summer. The CD was recorded by Jay Silvestri and Kurt Zikaras at the Elwood Studio in Milford, Connecticut and was mixed and mastered by Nick Bellmore at Dexter's Lab (HATEBREED, KINGDOM OF SORROW, TOXIC HOLOCAUST) in Milford, Connecticut.

Commented guitarist Pat Serpe: "HATE YOUR GUTS is very excited to be working with such a prestigious record label.

"We are ready to get the word out with the release of our new album, 'Bastard's Disease', this summer.

"We are going to be touring full-time in support of the album to show everyone that we are working hard to fulfill the standards of Eulogy and hardcore music.

"Thank you to everyone who has showed us support in the last few years."

Eulogy owner John Wylie added: "HATE YOUR GUTS represents the true hardcore spirit and are ready to take the world by storm. Dedication, hard work and an amazing album will make them a household name in no time."

Hailing from New Haven, Connecticut, HATE YOUR GUTS offers no-warning, pure relentless good old-fashion hardcore nihilism. Chris Loso - Drums
Pat Serpe - Guitar
Brian Coon - Bass

Germany's ATROCITY is recording a new CD which is described as "a project album" featuring frontman Alex Krull's sister Yasmin.

Commented ATROCITY guitarist Thorsten Bauer: "Recording this album was an adventure and a lot of fun at the same time.

"To create a kind of ethno metal sound, I used some pretty exotic lute and sitar tunings on the acoustic guitar in combination with the well known heavy guitar power ATROCITY usually stands for. These two different streams of guitar styles and sounds melt together in a pretty exciting way on the new album. In addition to that, 12-string guitars and flamenco fingerpicked guitars give this new ATROCITY record a handmade, unique and unheard sound and thrilling atmosphere.

"I am very satisfied with the outcome of this album and I think it will be one of the most creative and colourful albums of our career so far."

The collaboration with Yasmin began on ATROCITY's 1994 "Blut" album, where Alex's sister contributed guest vocals. In 1995 the mystical and very special ATROCITY FEATURING YASMIN "Calling The Rain" mini-album was released, and it became a success. "Calling The Rain" contained mainly acoustic songs and represented a complete musical departure for what was primarily known as a death metal band at that time. As no other group was playing that kind of music, it was simply dubbed "ethno metal." "A funny name for creating a kind of metal nobody had a name for," said Alex. "As we are a metal act and playing with Yasmin songs influenced by ethno and world music, it's OK to me, although I don't like categories."

ATROCITY's last collaboration with Yasmin came in the shape of the "Desert Land" song for the first Orkus compilation in 1999. Since then, fans have demanded a new official release from ATROCITY featuring Yasmin.
