SCORPIONS, is on track to sell between 18,000 and 22,000 copies in the United

"Sting In The Tail" was released in North America on March 23 via Universal
Music Enterprises. The CD was recorded at a studio in Hannover, Germany with
Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE
RASMUS' "Dead Letters" CD).

million records sold â€" will travel the globe one last time on the "Get Your
Sting And Blackout" tour. Kicking off the North American leg in June, the tour
will take the band across the U.S. all summer and continue on around the world
with special guests supporting along the way.

As previously reported, former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen will perform the

Dass..?" on Saturday, March 27. The song was written "about people who stand up
for peace and freedom," according to singer Klaus Meine. "In a world that gets
out of balance more and more every day, we try to put this feeling into music."

"The Art Of Malice", the new album from ROB ZOMBIEex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist
John 5, will be released on May 11 via 60 Cycle Hum/Rocket Science Ventures.
According to a press release, the CD "exhibits John 5's incredible diversity as
a writer and guitarist pulling from the pages of his life." "It is a completely
different vibe than my other albums," explains John 5.

He adds, "The title is derived from the saying 'kill them with kindness,' like
taking a good approach to still obtain a dark result."

"The Art Of Malice" further showcases John 5 to be one of the most technically
advanced guitarists in the business today. Fans of driving rhythms and
ear-catching, over the top, guitar work will keep this in their CD player for
months on end. This album has everything that the fans come to expect â€"
chicken pickin', shred, metal and Spanish guitar. The songtitles vary as
vignettes into John 5's life, such as the title "J.W." which are John 5's
initials (John William Lowery) and what his father had called him growing up.
"Ya Dig" comes from working with the master or frontmen David Lee Roth and also
features Billy Sheehan on bass. "That is Dave's saying and it fits the music,"
says John 5.

"The Art Of Malice" track listing:

01. The Nightmare Unravels
02. The Art of Malice
03. Ill Will Or Spite
04. J.W.
05. Ya Dig?
06. Can I Live Again
07. Portrayed As Unremorseful
08. Steel Guitar Rag
09. Wayne County Killer
10. Fractured Mirror (ACE FREHLEY cover)

As previously reported, John 5 will appear at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles
on March 31 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. PST. Afterwards he will take part in a
signing session.

Reservation seating for the first few rows of this event is available on a
first-come-first-served basis.

If you would like to make a reservation, please send an email to
john5store@hotmail.com and in the subject field put "Reserve Seats." You can
reserve 1-2 tickets. These are limited, so hurry up!

The Grammy Museum is located at 800 Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, California.

For more information, visit www.grammymuseum.org.

John 5 has compiled one of the most impressive resumes in rock. In addition to
his own solo work, his commanding riffs combined with his composition skills
have most recently earned him a coveted spot playing with rock icon Rob Zombie.

John 5's credentials include his famous stint with shock rocker MARILYN MANSON
and his current gig with ROB ZOMBIE, but also includes diverse work with some
names you might not expect, including Lita Ford, K.D. Lang, David Lee Roth, Meat
Loaf, SALT-N-PEPA, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and many others. Surprisingly to many, John 5
has an ardent love of bluegrass music and has the chops to prove it (just listen
to "Sugar Foot Rag" from 2004 solo album "Vertigo"). Furthermore, he is a
self-described "Fender fanatic" with a jaw-dropping collection of his favorite
instrument, the Telecaster ("the greatest guitars ever built, by far, hands
down," he said). Such is his love for the instrument that Fender introduced the
J5 Telecaster (and J5 Special Edition acoustic) in 2004 and the J5 Triple Tele
Deluxe in 2007.

John 5 in 2008 released the IMV "Behind the Player" DVD in which he gives an
intimate behind-the scenes look at his life as a professional musician,
including rare photos and video footage. John 5 then gives in-depth lessons for
how to play "Let it All Bleed Out" and "Lords of Salem" by ROB ZOMBIE on guitar
and jams the tracks with ROB ZOMBIE drummer Tommy Clufetos.

John 5 issued his fourth solo album, "Requiem", on June 3, 2008 via 60 Cycle
Hum.

The Pulse of Radio reports: Producer Thomas Tull is considering doing a sequel
to the 2008 documentary, "It Might Get Loud", and there's already been talk
about what artists might get involved. The original flick explored the history
of the electric guitar, focusing on the careers and styles of Jimmy Page, Jack
White and U2's The Edge. Now guitarist Slash tells The Pulse of Radio that he's
been approached about possibly starring in a sequel. "I love Jack White and I
love Jimmy Page and I learned, I guess, a little bit about The Edge because I'd
never really been much of a â€" I just never really followed those guys," he
said. "The reason I saw it was because the producer, Thomas Tull, called me up
and had me come down to a screening. So he wants to do another one. We'll see
what happens. I would do it, definitely."

The film premiered at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival, and played at both
Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009.

The former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist releases his self-titled solo album on April
6. The first single from the set, called "By The Sword", features vocals from
WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockdale.

Slash, Dave Grohl and Lemmy Kilmister are teaming up to perform at the Revolver
Golden Gods Awards. The show is slated for April 8 at Los Angeles' Club Nokia.

This Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m. EST, MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson
will be on Sirius XM satellite radio's Liquid Metal discussing their past,
present and future as band mates and friends. You'll also hear the Daves dissect
their classic thrashterpiece, "Rust In Peace", and talk about their current
anniversary tour alongside other thrash legends TESTAMENT and EXODUS.

In case you miss the first run, here are the repeat broadcasts:

* Saturday, March 27 at 12 p.m. ET
* Sunday, March 28 at 4 p.m. ET
* Tuesday, March 30 at 8 p.m. ET

MEGADETH recently commenced filming a video for the song "The Right To Go
Insane" in South El Monte, California. The track comes off MEGADETH's latest
album, "Endgame", which was recorded at Vic's Garage, the band's brand new,
self-built studio in San Marcos, California. The CD was helmed by Mustaine and
British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).

MEGADETH has joined forces with TESTAMENT and EXODUS for a month-long jaunt that
finds these thrash titans crisscrossing the nation on the "Rust in Peace 20th
Anniverary Tour". These are incredibly special shows that will delight MEGADETH
fans, as the band is playing its landmark, genre-defining album, 1990's "Rust in
Peace", in its entirety, in addition to other MEGADETH setlist favorites.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and ALICE IN CHAINS will headline the 31st annual DC101
Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, May 22 at RFK Stadium Festival Grounds. The event,
D.C.'s biggest one-day rock festival, is expected to raise $1.6 million to
benefit the National Kidney Foundation serving the national capital area.

Growing in stature and gaining momentum every year, the DC101 Chili Cook-Off is
the biggest one-day fundraiser for the National Kidney Foundation nationwide.
Last year's Cook-Off attracted 30,000 people and raised over $1.5 million to
support the Foundation's programs in research, patient services, professional
and public education, and organ donation awareness.

Preston A. Englert, Jr., Division President of the National Kidney Foundation
serving the national capital area, said, "We are indebted to DC101 for the
decades of support they have provided. The Chili Cook-Off is a significant
fundraiser that helps support programs such as research that leads to medical
breakthroughs, our patient emergency fund, and free early detection screenings
for at-risk members of our community. This is crucial because the Washington,
D.C. area leads the nation in the prevalence of kidney disease."

True to its name, the Chili Cook-Off features an intense competition between 101
chili cooks in four categories: Red Chili, Green Chili, Freestyle, and Salsa.
The 2009 Red Chili winner, Trevor Bothwell, went on to win the People's Choice
Award at the World Championship Cook-Off in Charleston, West Virginia in October
2009. Among the celebrity judges at Chili Cook-Off 2010 will be Washington
Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, quarterback Colt Brennan, and safety Reed
Doughty, whose son received a kidney transplant in March 2008.

Rounding out the lineup of bands for Chili Cook-Off 2010 are national recording
artists CAGE THE ELEPHANT, SWITCHFOOT, and ANBERLIN. According to DC101 Program
Director Dave Wellington, "This year's Chili Cook-Off lineup is stellar and a
must see! We look forward to over 30,000 fans coming together on May 22 for one
special day to help so many in need."

RFK Stadium Festival Grounds is pleased to be hosting the event for the second
consecutive year. According to Erik Moses, Managing Director of the WCSA Sports,
Entertainment and Special Events Division, "We couldn't be more pleased with the
first year of our partnership as we had record attendance and monies raised for
a worthy cause. This event has evolved into one of the region's most anticipated
events. Not only is there a great talent lineup but plenty of good chili as
well!"

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $35 in advance
general admission and $200 for limited VIP tickets, which include complimentary
beer, soda, water, private port-a-johns, and elevated view of the stage, plus
all applicable Ticketmaster and service fees. Tickets are $55 at the gate the
day of the Chili Cook-Off. RFK Stadium Box Office will be open during the week
(M-F) from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. ONLY selling tickets with NO service charge.
On May 22, participants are encouraged to take Metro to the Stadium/Armory
Station on the Orange & Blue Lines.

Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen perform in Israel for the first
time ever on April 27 at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv.

As previously reported, Malmsteen has also announced his first Russian concert
appearances in 21 years. The shows will take place on April 21 in Moscow and
April 24 in Saint Petersburg.

Malmsteen released a new album called "High Impact" on December 8, 2009. The set
was described as "a mind-boggling, high-paced compilation record" featuring a
"surprise" bonus track â€" Yngwie's never-before-released interpretation of the
MICHAEL JACKSON mega-hit classic "Beat It", which contains Malmsteen's own
magical touch and ex-JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens on
vocals.

Rising Force Records has begun releasing rare archival concert footage that many
Malmsteen collectors will want to have. The first is Yngwie in Korea, which was
made available on October 13, 2009. This is the raw footage that was shot by the
Korean media, and it features no bells and whistles.

Malmsteen in March 2009 released an all-instrumental acoustic album, "Angels Of
Love", which contains rearrangements of his ballad songs played on acoustic
guitar and string and choir arrangements only. It is a masterpiece showing the
tender, delicate version of his classic songs as well as a new composition.
Yngwie also released two DVDs via Rising Force Records in March â€" "Live
Animal" and "Live In Budokan".

"Perpetual Flame", the latest full-length studio album from Malmsteen, was the
first-ever Yngwie effort to be issued via Rising Force Records, It marked the
debut of Malmsteen's new singer, Tim "Ripper" Owens.

Joe Matera of Ultimate-Guitar.com recently conducted an interview with guitarist
Warren DeMartini of Californian rockers RATT. A couple of excerpts from the chat
follow below.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: When it came to recording the new album "Infestation", you
approached the recording process very differently to how the band approached the
recording of all the previous RATT albums.

Warren DeMartini: Yeah, we wanted to do something that was off the beaten path
on this record. We had recorded all our previous efforts in the past in our
hometown of Los Angeles. So we really wanted to explore that thing of, you
know... We are big fans of those bands that go and rent a mansion somewhere or
go do something in an exotic place and then create something from that where
that environment is part of the sound. When it came for us to begin tracking
Infestation we went to the East Coast, over to Virginia. And it was a really
good experience for all of us.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: What about the songwriting process, how did you approach
that?

Warren DeMartini: Well, a couple songs were things that we had in the works back
in 1999 but other than those two songs, everything was written last year with
this album specifically in mind.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: What sort of band dynamic has the addition of Carlos Cavazo
brought to the band and how does it differ from when the band had the late
Robbin Crosby in the lineup?

Warren DeMartini: It is a similar thing, really, where with Robbin we had a
situation where I would do a lead and Robbin would do a harmony lead to it and
so we exploited that quite a bit back in the day. And now with Carlos we're
basically able to do a similar thing too.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: With Carlos coming from QUIET RIOT, another major metal act
from the '80s, it is kind of like having two major '80s bands together under the
one moniker.

Warren DeMartini: Well, that is absolutely correct, and it is one of those
things that is unique and does not necessarily always work out, but so far good.
Knock on wood.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: It seems '80s bands are all experiencing a resurgence in
recent years do you think its because people are tiring of the music that's
being spoonfed to them by the media and really want a return of bands with good
songs and great guitar solos?

Warren DeMartini: I think it is a combination of what you said as well as it is
also about getting beyond the trash campaign of bands like us that went along
with grunge.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: Back the new album, what did producer Michael "Elvis"
Baskette bring to the recording process?

Warren DeMartini: He brought the absolute best of both worlds. I mean, in the
sense of coming from an analog world, for those of us that were from the time of
recording things on analog two-inch tape, and also he was about utilizing and
knowing about the technology of today. So he was the perfect producer to work
with to bridge those two mediums number one. And number two, he was able to zoom
out and look at the work as a whole and was able to critique a change that could
make all the difference the end result sometimes.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: Does it get any easier making records after all these
years?

Warren DeMartini: I think it is easier to get that sound you want. When we first
started out, it was a challenge to describe to the engineer and the people in
the studio, how to get the sound I was hearing in my head. But that got a little
better as time went on every time we worked in the studio. So in that sense, it
has definitely got easier. And also, today we all know how to pace ourselves a
little better. So to answer your question, yes it definitely does get better as
you get on.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: Juan Croucier [former RATT bassist] has declined to
participate in this current line-up of RATT and has legally tried to stop the
band from going out as RATT.

Warren DeMartini: When Stephen rejoined RATT in 1997, we spent a lot of time and
energy in meetings and conference calls and all that stuff to have it so that
all the surviving members of RATT could go out together. And we spent a few
months just trying to create a platform so that we could move forward on from
there. But the thing that we really got stuck on was that Juan wanted a
situation where if anyone decided that they didn't want to play in RATT anymore,
then RATT would not be and we'd stop at that point. And that was something that
the three of us, we wanted the choice of whether to continue on or not. But he
felt strongly about that and we respected that so there was no hard feelings
when he decided he didn't want to be a part of.

"La Raza", the new album from Los Angeles metal veterans ARMORED SAINT, sold
around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD
landed at position No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart,
which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as
those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"La Raza" was released on March 16 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded
at Burbank, California's Tranzformer Studios, which is owned by Dave Jerdan
(ALICE IN CHAINS, JANE'S ADDICTION), who produced ARMORED SAINT's 1991 classic
"Symbol of Salvation" and Bryan Carlstrom, who engineered the same album. The
band's first new release since 2001's "Nod to the Old School" was produced by
bassist Joey Vera and engineered by Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss.

"La Raza" track listing:

01. Loose Cannon
02. Head On
03. Left Hook From Right Field
04. Get Off the Fence
05. Chilled
06. La Raza
07. Black Feet
08. Little Monkey
09. Blues
10. Bandit Country

Vera commented on the unique recording process for "La Raza": "We used nothing
but analog gear, most of which was custom-built by Rupert Neve for Bryan
Carlstrom. We hit every signal (drum mics, guitars, vocals) with custom or
vintage analog gear before recording into Pro Tools. We even used rare vintage
amps for most of the guitar overdubs. At mix time, we mixed on an SSL 4000E
console and went to a one-inch tape reel (one of only two on the West Coast) for
our final masters. Uh…you DO know what tape is, don't you?

"What does this all mean? It means we spit in the ear of the age of the mp3,
teenie, tiny ear bud listening culture that has turned its back on what it means
to experience music. This record is FAT. We mean, obese! Full-on cardiovascular
failure stuff! Old school, baby!"

The band's current lineup is the same as the one on 2000's "Revelation" and

ICED EARTH's "Box Of The Wicked" will be released in Europe on April 26 (three
days earlier in Germany) and May 18 in the U.S. via SPV/Steamhammer Records. The
set is limited to 10,000 copies worldwide.

While ICED EARTH's 1998 album "Something Wicked This Way Comes" provided a
general overview of the story guitarist/songwriter Jon Schaffer has been
conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga was fully brought to life with
the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums "Framing Armageddon" and "The
Crucible of Man". The albums provided answers to mysteries the previous releases
created, and the timeliness of the story in today's world were guaranteed to
keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer's ability to convey the central
themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly "why"
characters' decisions are made and "how" events come to pass will keep fans of
the saga coming back as future mediums for the "Something Wicked" storyline are
revealed.

The whole saga is now included in this high-quality hardcover boxset (height 13
cm, depth 4.5 cm, width 14.5 cm) featuring the original digipak CDs "Framing
Armageddon" and "The Crucible Of Man" as well as the original digipaks EPs
"Overture Of The Wicked" and "I Walk Among You". In addition, the boxset
includes a bonus cardboard CD with one song from "Framing Armageddon" now sung
by Matt Barlow and three previously unreleased live tracks from the Belgian
Graspop Metal Meeting festival in 2008, also featuring Barlow on vocals. The
boxset will come with a full-color A1 poster and a 12-page booklet with

DOWN â€" the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY
guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT
RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein
(CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) â€" has
issued the following update:

"As you all are aware, DOWN was scheduled to release their movie 'Diary Of A Mad
Band' [on Tuesday, March 23]. Due to recent legal issues, the release has been
postponed to a later date as these issues get resolved.

"We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused.

"Please be assured that a new release date will be forthcoming and will be
posted immediately after it is confirmed.

"We thank you all for your loyalty and support."

Tentatively due this spring via E1 Music, "Diary of a Mad Band" will feature
footage of DOWN members "tearing up Europe" â€" literally and figuratively â€"
on their first European tour. This special DVD/CD collection contains over 130
minutes of live video material and a full, never-before-released concert. (Note:
The CD is different from the DVD.)

Check out the cover artwork below.

DOWN bassist Rex Brown has nearly fully recuperated from his fight with
pancreatitis, a sudden inflammation of the pancreas which can have severe
complications and high mortality despite treatment. He said in a statement,
"After two major surgeries to close out 2009, I have recovered from pancreatitis
and I'm looking forward to getting back to work with DOWN."

Brown and his DOWN bandmates were scheduled to reconvene in New Orleans soon
after the Saints won the Super Bowl to begin work on a new album. With a release
date yet to be announced, the new CD will be the band's fourth studio offering.

Brown, who is currently looking forward to a healthy and productive 2010, said,
"I'd like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes during my illness
and recovery."

DOWN tapped Danny Theriot of Metairie, Louisiana to fill in on bass for the
group's most recent North American trek.

KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer reportedly revealed in an online chat that
the band has inked a new deal with Roadrunner Records. The group's ninth studio
album, tentatively titled "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", is due this summer.
The CD marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked with KORN on the
band's first two releases, "Korn" and "Life is Peachy". Lead vocalist Jonathan
Davis has said that the new material matches the pure raw emotion of KORN's
early releases while the current touring band has never been tighter.

"We experimented with a lot of cool stuff on our last two records [2005's 'See
You On The Other Side' and 2007's untitled effort], but we didn't want to do
another record like that," Davis explained to Revolver magazine. "So we said,
'Let's strip it back again. Let's do this as a four-piece and make it real raw
like the old stuff."

KORN's forthcoming effort was tracked last October at the band's studio. "We
recorded everything on tape, just like we did in the old days," said Davis. "And
we didn't stack four or five vocal parts like I usually do. I'm singing one part
for every song, which was scary. It's just me and the microphone, and you can
really hear the emotion."

KORN will top the bill on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival
tour, which is scheduled to kick off on July 10 in San Bernardino, California.

SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison has confirmed to U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine that he
and Wednesday 13 will return this summer in their horror-punk side-project
MURDERDOLLS.

Although the band went on hiatus in January 2004, Joey tells Kerrang! that he
and Wednesday are currently working with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris
(HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD) on their new album, "Women And
Children Last", for a 2010 release.

Kerrang!: What started the ball rolling with regards to playing together again?

Jordison: "It's been an ongoing conversation between Wednesday and I from 2006
until now. We were bored with everything out there, and thought we had something
to piss people off and shake things up. Everything is such a product or a
fucking formula these days... Fuck formula! Fuck the norm!"

Kerrang!: Apart from Wednesday 13, who else is in the band?

Jordison: "Much like the way [Norwegian black metal bands] DARKTHRONE or
SATYRICON make records, Wednesday and I are doing the record ourselves with a
couple of very special guests."

Kerrang!: Do you have any plans to hit the U.K. soon?

Jordison: "Oh, we have plans! Just wait and see, U.K.! We love you guys and it
will be well worth the wait! If you have a problem finding a band that rocks, if
no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire The M-Team!"

For the full interview, be sure to pick up a copy of this week's Kerrang!
magazine.

Formed in 2002, MURDERDOLLS released one album in the form of "Beyond the Valley
of the Murderdolls", which came out via Roadrunner Records. The band had limited
initial success in the United States, though its album and singles charted well
in the United Kingdom and around the same time the group picked up a strong
following in Japan.

MURDERDOLLS' sound is made up of their shared influences, which include punk
rock and 1970s hard rock acts such as KISS and ALICE COOPER. The band also
shares an interest in horror movies, from which they take images and references.

"The new song material is totally fresh and energetic to us and I hope all you thrash maniacs will dig it as much as we do!

Finnish battle metallers TURISAS will join forces with fellow Finns TAROT,
BEFORE THE DAWN and POISONBLACK for the "Finland Fest 2010 - Metal Attack" event
on May 29 at LiquidRoom in Tokyo, Japan.

A video message from TURISAS for the band's Japanese fans can be viewed below.

TURISAS recently entered Sound Supreme studio in Hämeenlinna, Finland to begin
recording its third album for a late 2010 release via Century Media Records.

Commented TURISAS vocalist, songwriter and producer Mathias "Warlord" Nygård:
"After a nine-month break from touring to be able to fully focus on songwriting,
we've finally moved forward and have now started recording. It's going to be a
long project, and keep us busy all the way until the break of summer, but
believe me, the wait will be all worth it.

"With three years between albums, there's been enough of time to find a fresh
angle and new ideas not to repeat ourselves or albums we've done in the past.
The songs rock big time, but the epic elements aren't going anywhere â€" it's
going to sound larger than ever before. The leap forward is going to be just as
big as between 'Battle Metal' [2004] and 'The Varangian Way' [2007]."

Nygård and TURISAS were honored with the 2009 Culture Award by the Regional
Council of Häme province. Since 1991, the award has been handed out annually to
a person living and working in Häme region as a way to honor his/her
achievements in the field of culture. The award was received by Mathias and
guitarist Jussi Wickström on November 23, 2009. The Council mentioned that
Nygård and the band represent "new kind of creativity in Häme" and that they
"create new international culture by using old tradition."

Separate interviews with SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid and guitarist Peter Wichers regarding the recording process for the band's new album, "The Panic Broadcast", can be viewed below.

Due in Europe on June 25 via Nuclear Blast Records, the long-awaited follow-up to 2007's "Sworn To A Great Divide" is being produced by Wichers and mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST, BLOODBATH).

SOILWORK's new album will be the first to feature Wichers since his return to the band in 2008, as well as the studio debut with guitarist Sylvain Coudret, who also joined in 2008.

The drums for "The Panic Broadcast" were recorded at Echo Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina while the rest of the recording is set to take place in Tampa, Florida and the mix at Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden.

Strid previously stated about "The Panic Broadcast", "If any of you missed some of the intricate riffing that makes SOILWORK so unique, you won't be disappointed. I find these songs very playful and because we're not cutting down on anything — no 'too much information,' no 'less is more' — they're just pure musical joy with no boundaries. And THAT, to me, is what this band is all about! Of course, there'll be some surprises as always, and giving every one of us the freedom to go apeshit will without a doubt yield a heavy-as-fuck and naturally catchy album."

Guitarist Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, DEICIDE, DEATH, ICED EARTH) has issued the following update:

"Just came back from Europe with OBITUARY. It was pretty awesome this time.

"I finally made it to Rome and saw the Coliseum.

"We had a band from Andorra with us called PERSEFONE. They kicked ass every night! It was their first tour, but they acted and played like they'd been doing it for years. I think people will hear a lot more from them in the future.

"I'm writing the EX CATHEDRA album now with Thebon from KEEP OF KALESSIN. It's a concept album with an interesting story that we will reveal more about soon. It's gonna have Ed Warby from GOREFEST/HAIL OF BULLETS on drums. He's one of the best drummers in metal. I met him on the first tour I ever did with DEATH, and he's even better now.

"I also have a new radio show in Bogota (my current home) with my wife, Svetlana. It's called 'The Santollicas'. You can listen and or watch it at www.superestacion.fm/metal. It's on Wednesdays from 4 to 6. Check it out!"

After completing the regular portion of their set at this year's Sweden Rock Festival on June 12, Swedish black metallers WATAIN will return to the stage for a unique 45-minute tribute concert featuring classic BATHORY songs. The event promises to be even more special as the BATHORY part of WATAIN's performance will be introduced by none other than late BATHORY mainman Quorthon's father and producer, Börje "Boss" Forsberg.

"It feels great to have Boss participating in a part of the show, since he, in a way, is the only living link to the BATHORY myth," says WATAIN frontman Erik "E" Danielsson. "It will still be a tribute show and nothing else, but we are, of course, honored to be able to do it with his blessing!"

In other news, Danielsson conducted an exclusive interview with Boss about BATHORY and Quorthon's extraordinary contributions to metal for a full-length feature that will be published in issue #70 of Sweden Rock Magazine. Sweden Rock and Season Of Mist have also collaborated with WATAIN on a special CD that all subscribers of the magazine will receive in the first week of April. The disc will consist of WATAIN's cover version of BATHORY's classic track "The Return of Darkness and Evil" as well as a brand new WATAIN song, "Reaping Death", which will appear on the band's forthcoming album, "Lawless Darkness", to be released by Season Of Mist on June 7.

"The cool thing about Sweden Rock Magazine is that it covers metal's traditions and history and what metalhead head isn't aware of the genre's history?" says Danielsson. "It felt like the right forum for a tribute to BATHORY, one of extreme metal's forefathers, especially the Scandinavian side of it. All the pieces fell into place."

Quorthon was found dead in his apartment in Stockholm, Sweden on June 7, 2004. The 39-year-old, widely considered to be one of black metal's founding fathers, reportedly died of heart failure.

For more information, visit www.swedenrockmagazine.com.

Swedish black metallers WATAIN will release their fourth album, "Lawless Darkness", on June 7 via Season Of Mist.

Commented WATAIN frontman Erik "E" Danielsson: "The title symbolizes the unbound chaotic potential of that which is void of light. The light that defines, the light that shapes and restricts. The light by which the forces of law and order uphold their reign. In the absence of that light lies the wellspring of WATAIN: in Lawless Darkness.

"With this album and in all of our efforts with WATAIN we aim to capture the hungry madness and glimmering purity of darkness beyond illusion, the void that holds all yet where naught is manifest, the primordial tomb into which all the vanity of man and his creation shall collapse: indeed, The Lawless Darkness!

"Lawless Darkness shall be seen as a monument erected in honour of that collapse and a dedication to all those brave souls, who have willingly dared to venture the winding paths towards it."

"Shed not thy light on me
Get thee hence, thoughts defined
Blind me not with your bright structures
For I am of the night

"Let not thy rays caress me
Judged by them I will not be
For they are the light that governs man
And I am the enemy"

WATAIN will return to the United States once again in late May as part of the annual aural offensive known as the Maryland Deathfest, appearing with SODOM, OBITUARY, ENTOMBED, POSSESSED, NECROPHOBIC and countless others.

After completing the regular portion of its set at this year's Sweden Rock Festival on June 12, WATAIN will return to the stage for a unique 45-minute tribute concert featuring classic BATHORY songs.

Danielsson conducted an exclusive interview with Boss about BATHORY and Quorthon's extraordinary contributions to metal for a full-length feature that will be published in issue #70 of Sweden Rock Magazine.

The European release date for "We Rule The Night", the new album from Swedish/British modern metallers SONIC SYNDICATE, has been pushed back to July 30 from the previously announced May 28 (via Nuclear Blast Records). The CD was recorded at Bohus Sound studios in Kungälv, Sweden and was mixed at Paramount Studios in North Hollywood, California by producer Toby Wright, who has previously worked with KORN, SLAYER, MÖTLEY CRÜE, KISS, FEAR FACTORY, IN FLAMES, STONE SOUR and OZZY OSBOURNE, among others.

Commented the band: "'We Rule the Night' is a result of everything that SONIC SYNDICATE has been and has become.

"When [British singer] Nathan [James Biggs; formerly of THE HOLLOW EARTH THEORY] joined the band in 2009, a fire ignited and everything just felt truly natural for the first time in many ways.

"We're having more fun than ever, the music started flowing like water, and 'We Rule the Night' is the most exciting album we've recorded to date!"

"We Rule The Night" track listing:

01. Beauty And The Freak
02. Revolution, Baby
03. Turn It Up
04. My Own Life
05. Burn This City
06. Black And Blue
07. Miles Apart
08. Plans Are For People
09. Leave Me Alone
10. Break Of Day
11. We Rule The Night

In addition to the album's standard version, "We Rule The Night" will be made available in a limited-edition digipack featuring two bonus songs and a DVD.

The cover artwork for "We Rule The Night" was created by Gustavo Savez of Abstrata Art and can be viewed below.

Commented the band: "We asked Gustavo to create a bright cover that was also very dark to fit with the title of out new album.

"After countless hours of frustration and adjustments, an e-mail arrive[d] with what has now become the brightest yet darkest cover we could possibly hope for."

SONIC SYNDICATE's "Burn This City" video was shot with director Patric Ullaeus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL) of Revolver Film Company.

"Burn This City", which marked the recording debut of the band's latest addition, British singer Nathan James Biggs (formerly of THE HOLLOW EARTH THEORY), was one of two tracks that were laid down at Abyss studios in Pärlby, outside Ludvika, Sweden. Both cuts appeared on a new EP, "The Rebellion Pack", which was released on November 9, 2009 as part of an all-in-one-package with the group's latest album, "Love And Other Disasters".

Concert for Chile , the benefit concert which was scheduled to take place tonight (Wednesday, March 24) at De Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland, has been cancelled. Among the musicians who were slated to perform at the event were former THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen and her new band AGUA DE ANNIQUE, Simone Simons (EPICA) and Danny Cavanagh (ANATHEMA).

Commented Anneke: "These last two weeks we've been working around the clock to make this happen. We had some of Holland's biggest names in popular music supporting this benefit. Nevertheless, ticket pre-sales weren't even close to what one would expect from a lineup like this. Today we had to throw in the towel, despite the massive support of the Melkweg venue and all artists and crews.

"I received an overwhelming amount of moving messages of Chilean people: thank you all.

"I can't begin to tell you how sad I am at the moment.

"All profits of my new single will still be going to Chile.

"Thank you for understanding, stay safe and I hope to see you all soon."

Drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen (SUBMISSION, THE ARCANE ORDER, SCARVE, INSTANT CARNAGE, STRANGLER, SCARVE, SOILWORK) will be unable to join his THE CLEANSING bandmates on their upcoming Danish tour as the support act for DAWN OF DEMISE. He will be temporarily replaced by Mads Lauridsen of Danish extreme metallers KONKHRA and PANZERCHRIST.
